[The old man stretches and yawns. He's not quite awake enough, but he figured he better get started on the grill early in case anyone is hungry. He's willing to grill the traditional fare for this holiday {steak, ribs, burgers, hot dogs, and such} but if you want some breakfast, he will make steak and eggs as well.]

[Ah yes- Good old America. That's TOTALLY where Tatyana is from. So of course she's going to celebrate the 4th of July!]

[Wooo, grillin' on the roof! Donald is THERE, man.]

[...No, Donald will NOT be having any watermelon thank you very much.]

[Okay maybe a little.]

[Ah. Fourth of July. Good old American pride. ~~AMERICA FUCK YEAH.~~]

[Jamila may not be American, but she smells something delicious grilling on the roof. She follows her nose, and then licks her lips hungrily.]

[Pfff, NOBODY grills as good as dad can >_>]

...I don't get it. Why are we celebrating? What's so special about today?

[It's... a bit hard for Helena to come back to the roof. There are memories of him everywhere...]

[But when she does, the woman walks off by herself to lean against the far railing, away from the others.]

Um... What is going on here? Is today special?

[Mia is Italian and she grew up in a small, remote village in Italy, so naturaly she would not understand.

She also got a new hair cut.]

[Dr. Clark, recluse extraordinaire, is going to be off to some side where nobody will bother her (or so she thinks.)]

[Patriotism and Ocelot did not go hand in hand, considering what kind of backstabber he was. He was not aligned with America, nor Russia, nor China, when it really came down to it.]

[So he stood at one of the far corners of the roof, indulging in a smoke. The food in the air tainted his nostrils, but he didn't feel the need to eat. He smirked at how pathetic this all seemed... How people could still feel so purely about their beloved country. Especially when he knew the truth, all the lies and secrets hidden beneath the surface.]

[He brooded silently.]

[Diane is from South Africa, and thus doesn't really have any reason to celebrate the holiday, but it didn't mean that she was going to pass up the chance to socialize with more people! And she supposed that, at the very least, a lot of cool things and Solid Snake came from the US, so she could celebrate that, maybe!]

[So Diane is nibbling on a piece of watermelon, searching through the crowd for someone interesting to talk to!]

[The Fury is here for the cookouts and fireworks. He couldn't care less about the date.]

Where are the fireworks I need to burn something.

[He has his flamethrower at the ready.]

[The compound was vast and ridiculous in size. No matter where he turned it was to some place new, and no matter how far he went up it felt as if he never reached an end. Surely a building this size would have been noticeable from any point on land, yet nothing of the sort was ever located on any maps or plans. No one spoke of a structure like this, and he'd never seen it while taking a break from duty.

It wasn't like he knew how he got here anyway.

So far he'd been sneaking about, favoring the quiet and trying to diagram in his head where everything was for when he got back to the truck - but after a few hours of skulking about, it became too much. He managed to find paper and a pen unnoticed, but even when he tried to write the building's layout down, he quickly ran out of paper after a few floors.

What the hell was this place? He needed backup, but he didn't exactly trust the radio. In a way, though he'd tried to avoid others before, he really wanted to run into someone now just to see what the hell was going on, even if it meant capture - or worse. Following the scent of grilled meat would lead to that surely.

And so he followed the scent, then the increasing noise, and peeked out a crack in the door, wondering if that was a blue sky he really saw.]

[Zero ghosts around. Annoyingly so.]
