[He catches sight of that brooding Ocelot and debates bothering him...]

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-04 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to bite, you know.

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-04 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[He braces his free hand on the railing.]

What is it you want?

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I want for nothing...

[He wanders away, quietly.]

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-04 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You're actually going to celebrate this holiday, aren't you?

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-04 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He stops in his tracks.] No, but I am happy to serve others because it gives me a lame excuse to burn meat on the grill and indulge in beer.

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's a significant change.

[He smirked around his cigar, sparing his old friend from looking at him.]

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Not in the way that you are thinking. Just as a host.

[He reaches over and steals Ocelot's cigar.] This looks like one of mine-

[He stared down at his now empty hand, a silver brow arched at Big Boss. He's forced to stare at him now.]

They're my own collection. I gave up stealing your cigars a long time ago.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that was you pilfering from my stash. [He takes a few puffs off of that cigar.]

Should have known.

So, have you finally gotten over your infatuation with me? I'd like to think that you finally have, given the way that you are addressing me today.

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
After riling me up at that outdoor bath and leaving me tend to myself... maybe it has.

Maybe not.

Adoration is a strange thing. It's difficult to give up a person even if you know nothing will come of it.

[He leans forward against the railings, focusing on the outer world.] You of all people should know that.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[He exhales smoky words.] Oh, I do.

I figured that you would have completely grown out of it by now.

Heh...maybe you should have let me die, then you would still have your precious obsession completely intact.

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
An ocelot never loses its prey. No matter the consequences.

You and EVA are all I have left. I'm allowed to be selfish and crave your company.

[He turns to face the other man, taking hold of the cigar. He slides it back between his lips, inhaling.] Of course, I could set my sights on someone else. Someone not much different to you.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
'Selfish' is an understatement.

You can crave my company just as easily if I were dead.

[He lets him have that cigar.]

I figured you did, anyway since I have seen so little of you. Either of you. [Shit, if he was wanted so badly to be alive, the people that revived him could at least visit him every once in a while. Nno, the old bastard isn't bitter or anything.]

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hnh. [A scoff.]

You're trying to make me pity you on purpose. And believe me, when we are dead, I will still admire you. It has only grown with time.

[He breathes out the smoke around Big Boss.] You are just as guilty for hiding away as we are. How long have you been avoiding us? Avoiding her?

You might have my heart, John, but you won't have my pity. You're far better than this.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ASDFGHJKL! Nnever.]

Hrn...I'm here now, aren't I? As much as I would rather not be, I am here.

You can either make the most of it or not.

Your choice.

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[His eyes slant.] We just happened to be in the same place at the same time. You wouldn't have willingly searched for me.

For months, I've been stuck in this place. You never came to me when I needed a friend. But ever did you hear me complain about it.

I carried on, because I have to. Not because I want to.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Is that so?

How long have you been here? I haven't seen you around until fairly recently.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
'Four months'...? [John whispers out to himself.]

...

[Shit, that IS a long time.]

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Ocelot stubs out the cigar into the railing.]

Yes. [He closed his eyes.]

I know I am partly responsibile for your being alive right now, but if you hate me so much for giving you life then leave. I won't be sent on a guilt trip. Not after the life I've lived.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
[He was about to swallow his pride and his anger and apologize, but that was before Ocelot spoke again.]

...

[He rubs his forehead, trying his best not to get any more angry but he's failing at that miserably, so he turns to leave so he can fume elsewhere. John is even more baffled than he once was before as to why he was resurrected after this conversation. If Adam thought he would be thankful for being given the curse of life again, he was sorely mistaken...]

Right.

[He clenches his bony, old fists tight, chokes back his raging torrent of anger, and heads back toward the door. He needs to go clear his head and calm down before he continues to speak to this man.]

[identity profile] systemismine.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Perhaps coercing Big Boss to fight would have been negligent of him, but Ocelot couldn't help moving towards the older man and following his gut instinct. He hadn't truly believed that Big Boss hated him... If he was hated so, he would rather finish this like men.]

[He strode after him and grabbed his wrist, forcing him to turn around. He stared at him defiantly; his eyes still possessed the same flare they did all those years ago.]

We have a score to settle.

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[He can't believe what he just heard, but yet...he can and the pace of his heart quickens.]

You have got to be- [He snatches back his hand from Adam's grip.] -kidding me.
