[Come to the roof to do American things! Like have cookouts, and eat watermelon. Stay for the fireworks, too.]

[She leans forward a bit, her chest now firmly pressed against his. She lips gently brush against his cheek.]

Goodnight, Snake.

[Then, she nestles herself back against him, knowing very well that she herself won't be able to properly sleep.]

[He doesn't move for a while, because he doesn't want to wake her once she's asleep. John hopes that he, at least, makes a decent pillow.]

[For what feels like hours (but really is only about twenty minutes), she keeps her eyes shut, trying to distract herself from the thoughts mulling around in her mind. She tries to focus on replaying a movie in her mind, counting sheep, or even thinking about everything so it will get out of her mind.

No use. She can't sleep. Gently, she slides away, trying her best not to disturb him and sits on the edge of the bed. Her shoulders slowly rising and then falling when she lets out a sigh.

She sits there, doing nothing but thinking and distracting herself from thinking.]

[He lays completely on his back and turns his head to gaze at her graceful silhouette in the dark.]

[She turns her head to look at him, a small smile on her face.]

I'm sorry, did I wake you up? I didn't mean to.

No. I can barely sleep at home...there's no way I can sleep here. Don't worry about it.

[He turns his head to stare back up at the dark ceiling.]

[She turns to look straight in front of her again, her back straighter than a board.]

Then what should we do? As much as I like spending time with you, I would enjoy it if I could fall asleep.

If I am keeping you awake, I should leave. You have things to do tomorrow and I should be hindering you for getting the proper rest that you need.

[She sighs, sliding herself under the covers and against him, again.]

I'll just try to find something to take tomorrow night so I can sleep. I don't usually condone sleeping pills, but I'd rather sleep just once than have godawful bags under my eyes.

[He turns on his side to face her offering his softest side to her. John then wraps his arm around her, rubbing her back.]

[She presses her cheek against his chest, listening to his heartbeat, hoping it will make her relax.]

I've stayed up plenty of nights before on the battlefield, but it's unhealthy to not sleep for so long.

[She enjoys his hand on her back, though. It feels like forever since she's properly been held like this. Some part of her misses it. It's not... a need. She doesn't need to be comforted. Enjoying it once in awhile couldn't hurt, though.]

[She softly laughs.] Yeah, I have to keep my beauty for a little while longer.

[Lifting her head up, she smiles. An odd look in her eyes.] Will you at least kiss me goodnight?

[He leans in closer and plants a soft kiss on her lips.]

[She smiles into the kiss before pressing her lips back. An arm slides around his neck, her body softly pressing against his.]
