[Come to the roof to do American things! Like have cookouts, and eat watermelon. Stay for the fireworks, too.]

I didn't say being average was bad. I love being average. I'm just saying with me, you won't get to search the jungle or blow up anything, or any of those kinds of 'exciting' things.

[She moves a bit closer, as well.]

[He smiles at her.]

[Her eyes lower a little.]

[He shrugs.] So I will have to take your word for it.

You may eat weird animals, but I don't think I need to reassure you that you are, in fact, a good kisser. And-- [She points a finger to him.] You at least know who some actors and actresses are. I'll give you credit for that.

[He gets very quiet, glancing away, modestly. He's already started blushing a bit. He's so much better at giving praise and compliments than taking them.]

Hmm... [He shifts uncomfortably in his seat.]

[She replays the last sentence in her head to see if there was anything that she may have accidently rambled out.]

No...not at all.

[He tilts his head back and closes his eye.]

Alright...

[She looks at him for a minute before shifting in her chair, crossing one leg over the other. She tugs the hem of her dress a little to make it sit properly on her legs. She contemplates having another cup, but she's already slightly buzzed.]

[He's already finished both of his beers and is looking into getting another. He hefts himself up and out of his chair.]

Need anything while I am up?

[She looks up at him with her doe-like eyes, her hands in her lap. She gently shakes her head.]

Mm, no I don't think so. I have everything I need right here.

Except, a movie would be perfect right about now, but you can't have everything. [She laughs.]

[John nods.] Right.

[He wanders off to get a beer for himself.]

[She watches him for a moment before deciding that she won't wait to fill up the ceramic cup again. She pours just a little bit more and takes another sip. Then, she leans her head on the back of the chair, staring up at the sky as she waits for him to come back.]

[He grabs himself a beer and cracks it open, taking a few swings on his way back. He's got himself a half-empty can already. Maybe he should cut back...one day.]

hnh [He flops back down in his chair with a soft moan.]

[She lifts her head up when he sits down.]

How many of those does it take you to get drunk? [She gives a tight-lipped smile.]

A whole lot. More than I would really like to admit.

[He looks over at her calmly. With each beer he mellows out just that much more, as if he could get any cooler.]

[She softly laughs, looking down at her cup. Her fingers gently tracing the rim.]

I guess that should be pretty obvious. [She turns her head to look at him.] Do you drink often?

Perhaps. [He swirls the remainder of the beer in his can.]

Yes. Daily. Is it that obvious?

[She laughs again, her head leaning back a little.]

Snake, you're a doctor's worst nightmare! [She hopes that he understands that's a joke. Sort of.]

[He finished off his beer with haste.]

A smoker and a drinker? Yeah, I'd say so.

[At least she only mentioned two of his vices.]

[She understands, though. With all he's been through, she doesn't blame him. She knows that the only person who can make him stop is himself, not her. As much as she cares for him and wants him to.

Finishing her drink, as well, she sets the cup down.] I think I'm done for the night. I'm already a little lightheaded.
