[After placing a codec call to
zeropercentoff to hopefully return down to the basement from where-ever he might be; Drebin closed his laptop. Inventory was completed, with the whole NEO KOBE PIZZA sale thankfully over with. Selling MREs and other food wasn't exactly his specialty, but he couldn't complain in being given free samples to try now and then. Remaining boxes and crates were neatly aligned and shelved to the side before he used his "keyless entry" remote to close up the anti-tank carrier's rear hatch. With everything prim 'n proper, he exhaled a long sigh out of relief.
Life had been a bit too steady lately. The war investigation had stalled, no 'big' notices from the higher-ups, Nexus Newcomers were a bit more sane(thankfully!), and Nastasha... well, to be honest, #893 hadn't given her much thought about her condition until recently. In days past, Drebin wrote it off as mere exhaustion from work or stress. But lately, things seemed so distant. While most here seemed to come-to-terms with life here compared to the timeline they originated from; #893 always found a shred of comfort in knowing that the two of them refrained from being so complacent. And yet, look at him now... routinely selling what
they wanted sold and discreetly carrying out their commands without question or notable defiance. Sure, he had Nastasha's map, but did he ever
really venture out and seek a true exit? Or determine exactly how so many varied folks related to Snake or Ocelot could be brought here? Hell, was there a single entity behind all the machinations?
Throwing an emptied can of NARC™ Cola in the recycle bin out of disgust of himself in being so lax to "seek the truth"; Drebin made up his mind.
First, he'd talk with the codec-contacted DREBINS cohort. Hopefully he would understand the sudden jaunt away from mainstream work.
Second, #893 would go see Nastasha and amend a rather stagnant relationship. Out of anything at late, he felt entirely guilty over this, wondering if he should have prodded further on her well-being and life to determine if someone truly was amiss.
Lastly, he would finally make a full-fledged effort for resolution to this whole ordeal of the nexus itself, with the high hopes that consequences wouldn't be too dire...]
((OOC: I'm not going on hiatus, just the character from the normal "ad" routine. :d ))
