[Solidus hadn't come home.

Big Boss hadn't been worried, not at first. It wasn't until Solidus' dinner had gone cold without even being touched that he began to worry. By this time, that worry had turned into a full-scale panic.

Where was he? Surely he hadn't actually tried to infiltrate somewhere, gotten himself caught, or worse... no. He was just playing, just hiding somewhere... right?

RIGHT?!

Even if he hadn't been the best of parents, even if he could lose it with the kids, hurt them, frighten them, they were still his kids, his little bundles of irritating, overactive Snake. Deep down, he was afraid. That was why he'd left the kids to their own devices, headed out into the Nexus in search of him.]

SOLIDUS? COME OUT, NOW, OR YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET IT!

[This was troublesome. On the one hand, his kids were good at handling themselves. The little monkeys were trouble for anyone who wanted to hurt them. On the other hand, he'd heard about this Talib person, not to mention that crazy version of Solid and he knew there were other nuts out there beside him. Solidus was just a kid, not a soldier.]

(Long story short, [livejournal.com profile] worldpresident got himself kidnapped on a mission to prove his worth to Jerkdaddy here. 8|)

[Anyone in a certain fourth floor hallway would find this particular Otacon pacing back and forth for a while--five minutes, maybe--before finally stopping and pressing his shoulder to a wall, hand to his head. He was conflicted, confused--and more than a little nervous.]

[What was he supposed to do today? Just say something along the lines of 'hey, sorry I slept with my stepmother and drove you to kill youself, effectively ruining the lives of everyone involved and--']

[Okay, that was a dark place for his mind to go so quickly. Otacon sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose--how was this supposed to work? Should he just go back to his room and hide out until today was over? But....he was so sick of hiding. Tired of running away like the coward he knew he was.]

[Slumped against the wall, he took a deep breath and sighed. He was a damn genius, surely he could at least work this situation out. Right?]

[Happy Father's Day. :B Looking for [livejournal.com profile] hueyemmerich, but please bother the nerd. <3 ILU gaiz.]

[In the habit of changing rooms regularly, Wolf was out and about with his pack of belongings (which mostly consisted of ammo...and hair product), searching for a new room. Also with him, was his trusty map he created, with the numerous "bad" rooms he had run into, in the last year and a half or so, on his map. Walking to a room, that was nowhere near any of the marks on his map, Wolf took a deep breath, before entering. It would seem like a normal room for gathering, at first glance, but that's exactly why Wolf was immediately concerned. Gathering rooms were meant for large groups of people...which typically meant that the room intended to have some sort of effect on the mass amounts of people that would enter it.]

Do I even want to know?

CUT FOR MAJOR TL;DR )

[Father's Day... a day he'd barely taken notice of in the past other than to vaguely wish he had a father to wish "happy Father's Day" to. Now he had one, although he wasn't quite sure what to do for it.

Solidus had gotten up early that morning because he had work to do. On the one hand, he wanted to visit Corpsidus. On the other, he had something he needed to do first in case he found his father wandering around. Solidus had made cupcakes. Small, pretty little cakes - with no gunpowder - with little syrupy centers and "Dad" written in icing on the top of most of them in awkward, blurry icing-letters. He'd even made a cake shaped like a gun. He'd also handmade a card, but considering his craft skills were far from the best... well, the card wasn't really worth mentioning. He slipped the envelope in with the cakes and carefully sealed the little package up with tape. Lots of tape.

With that done, he carefully carried the package of cakes in his hands and headed out on his little trip, notably without his exoskeleton for once. He wasn't unarmed, but he was wearing a nice suit. Solidus wanted to make the effort for his daddy, after all.]

(Looking for [livejournal.com profile] old_papa_john and going to see [livejournal.com profile] corpsidus, but feel free to bother. He likes to meet people!)

[Father's Day? Jack is oblivious. He's just wandering the hallways as usual, freshly drugged up on toluene and eyes open for any hostiles. Sure, this wasn't Liberia... he realized that much now. But Solidus never told him to stop patrolling. So there he is, a ten year old soldier with an AK in his grasp, ready to kill any hostiles he happens to come across. The Small Boy Unit band on his arm remained to serve as a reminder to Jack; he was the leader of the unit, even if it wasn't here yet. For now, he had to treat them all as MIA. He didn't miss them, but he was incapable of it. He was incapable of any real emotion like this.]

((HAPPY FATHER'S DAY SOLIDUS, YOU KNOW GUILT IS THE BEST GIFT EVER :D Open for anyone to run into~))

[In order to celebrate the findings of the MSF mother base within the Nexus, Miller is currently cooking up a banquet for good fathers that are based in the building. The Hell Master could care less if [livejournal.com profile] seethingrage accepted that he had kids; Miller was a dad himself and he knew the importance of sharing days between children and parents, whether they be biological or otherwise, outside of training.]

[He's taking food requests as well, but you might be asked to kiss the chef in return.]

[Inside the mess hall are various tables set out for dining, and a huge party table stacked with various foods and drinks. The theme consists of blue, white and silver decorating; all symbolic of being a father figure.]

[He may or may not be waiting for a certain someone to show up.]

((ooc: Open to all. Bear in mind that all other rooms on the base are locked and can only be opened by [livejournal.com profile] seethingrage or [livejournal.com profile] originalmiller for security reasons.))

[After eating the cupcakes Solidus gave him, Old Snake suddenly felt a little self-conscious about his weight. He knew that if he stopped caring, he'd just become a fat old man, and that was something he never wanted, despite his hunger for sweets... With the recent training from Master Miller, he'd felt better than he had before... But at the same time, he started feeling guilty every time he looked at something delicious.

... He almost felt like a teenage girl with peer pressure issues. Hnn.

So, it was back to training as usual... Entering a room that seemed to look like an old shack, he decided to practice his stealth. He'd have to use his imagination for this one, imagining there being some motion-detecting lasers in the room, and he began to mark them in his Solid Eye, to create a hologram for his eyes only so he could practice sneaking.

Slowly lowering himself down to his stomach, Snake began to crawl through the first part of the puzzle... He had a few motion detectors to crawl under. ... Though, that was the least of his problems. Once down, he felt the after effects of consuming so much food and sugar... And in his old age, that only meant one thing.

Nap time.

Before even being able to think otherwise, there's a sleeping Old Snake blending in with the floor nicely, thanks to his octo-camo. Looks like someone hasn't been having as many naps as he should be.]

....nnnhhhnn...

[ooc: just fyi, the laser sensor things are only visible to Solid Snake since he inputted it only in the Solid Eye. He's also not in the center of the room, more off to the side, so if you step on him, be gentle. :V The shack looks similar to a storing shack, a bit of sunlight pouring in from cracks in the roof. Also it's big enough for about 30 people... though all tightly crammed together anyway. Other than that, I'd say only about 5 people could actually get inside and walk around freely. Think of where you could get C4 in MGS1 before you had to blow up the walls. Enough room like that. There's a door out of the shack that leads to a forested area, nice and sunny.]

[The sound of the intercom might have drawn attention. Dolph had found a broadcasting room, to his pleasure. Sitting down in front of the microphone, he lifted it to his mouth and began to speak, improvising a speech.]

Today is another glorious day.

[A slight pause to allow that to sink in.]

Today is one of two special days in which children are supposed to celebrate the existence of their parents. But I know that many people out there do not have the pleasure of having good relationships with their family, or-

[The microphone screeched feedback and he paused.]

My apologies for that. As I was saying. I know that many people out there do not have good relationships with their parents. Many of you are orphaned, or disowned. You've had fights with them, created huge rifts. Today is the day when you should think about starting to fix those rifts. Father's Day is a day which has existed since the year 1910, though compared to its sister celebration "Mother's Day", it took much longer to become official. It was not until 1966 that it became an official holiday. Although it is not celebrated throughout the world, the meaning of the day should be clear to all. Today is the day to celebrate bonds between father and child, the day to repair rifts, to put quarrels aside.

I ask you, my friends. Do you take pleasure in those quarrels and rifts? Take this opportunity for peace, for bonding, even if it's only for one day. Even if you go straight back to fighting the day after, it will create a pleasant memory for a pleasant world. Remember that kindness does not have to be shown via charity or saving lives. Kindness can be shown in the slightest of things, like giving a smile to someone who looks sad, or spending a little time with a neglected friend. Even a moment spent with your father will cheer his day up.

However, I know there are those here who have no fathers to spend time with.

To those, I offer my sincerest apologies. This day must be a painful one to you, but do not lose hope. Those who are lost may turn up here in time. In the meantime, try to spend your day as happily as possible. Refreshments have been set up in rooms throughout the building.

As a father myself, I know the difficulties there can be. I ask you, fathers of the Nexus. Don't just sit and hide and wait to be sought out. Make yourself known. Come out, wander the Nexus. Surround yourselves with the love of your family and friends. You deserve it. But most of all you deserve to know that warm feeling that occurs when your child embraces you, the way it feels to be loved and needed by those closest to you.

[A slight pause.]

My... my wife cannot be here today.

[She'd killed herself, the cyborg had said.]

But she's a good woman. I know that she'd be happy knowing there were people out there who were enjoying this day, people reforming old bonds and building new ones.

[Because of him and Vamp.]

In the end, what you choose to do with your day is up to you, but think about it. Which would you rather have - a day spent alone, filled with hatred and despaire, or a day of laughing warmth, spent with your family? Remember, it's not about gifts. It's about love and respect, two things the Nexus seems sorely lacking lately.

[Because of him.]

So whatever you do, try to enjoy the day.

[Clicking the intercom off, Scott Dolph walked out of the room, a thoughtful look on his face.]
