[If anything, the past few weeks have made Jane considerably tired. She knows there's even more to learn about what goes on in the future of her own time, but what she already knows has constantly worn her down. It was tough trying to prove to others that you're presently not that monster you become and that you're trying to change it. She knows very well enough that she can prove to them- all of them, Ocelot, Frank, even the Big Bosses and EVA- that she's darn well determined to make herself not become that woman.
Right now, the least thing Jane should be doing is be alone with her thoughts. But right now, she's doing just that. The chaos from the past few days hasn't effected the beach one bit and she's very thankful for that. Sitting on the sand proved to be fairly calming.
If there was anything that made her at ease, it was the beach. The weather here was always absolutely perfect. It was fairly warm, but not to the point where it made her wish she was back inside. The wind was soft, gently brushing past her shoulders, and the ocean was, as always, beautiful and calming.
For now, she'll take the time to admire the scenery, being stuck in her own little world for the time being.]

Liquid--rather, James--cleared his throat and took a deep breath before looking directly at her with calm and steady blue eyes as he heard himself speak a sentence he never imagined he would need to use.
"...I love you."

Besides the weird feeling in her stomach, a smile slowly moved along her face. It was gentle, understanding. She may have not felt the same way towards him, but she certainly very much liked him, even if it wasn't romantic.
"I don't know what to say," she says softly. She knows it was hard for him to even admit that to himself and she was very flattered that he even told her aloud. "I know it took a lot for you to say that. Even if I don't feel the same way," her hand reaches out to gently touch his cheek. "You know I care a great deal for you, right?"

Jane was a woman well-off on her own, but there was times where she just enjoyed knowing that someone cared for her. Even if she couldn't admit it to anyone but herself. It was the typical cliché woman part of her that wishes she could be loved like Don Lockwood loved Kathy Selden in Singin' in the Rain.
"It won't change anything, I can promise you that." She tilts her head a little, "Plus, I've had a hunch you've had it that bad for me."

"I can't truly be that obvious, can I?"

She's just proud that he was willing to admit those feelings. It took more guts than going out on a battlefield and killing the enemy.

Forget where his room was, sure. But not impair his judgement.
"And really, I'd be stunned if you didn't hear confessions like that once a week, what with how attractive and clever you are."
