[Come to the roof to do American things! Like have cookouts, and eat watermelon. Stay for the fireworks, too.]

[She stands up, smiling.] I like making breakfast for other people anyway.

[Old John perks up just a bit.] 'Breakfast'?

I'll make sure that I stay around in the morning, then.

[She softly laughs.] Alright, then. I'll make a good breakfast for the both of us.

[Then she sits on the arm of the couch, next to him.]

Are you sure you won't be more comfortable in a bed?

I don't want to be a bother... [He exhales quietly.]

What did I tell you before? [She pats his hand.] You're never a bother.

[He rests is warm hand atop hers. He squeezes a little.]

You may be frustration at times... most times.

[She leans forward a little and smiles.]

*Humph* [He feigns being insulted.]

Yes you seem to want to keep me around.

You know I'm nothing but trouble. [He tilts his head.]

What trouble could you possibly cause sleeping in a bed for one night?

[He sits up and rests his elbows on his knees.]

Point me in the direction of the spare bedroom, then.

[She softly laughs.]

I don't have a spare bedroom.

[She genuinely smiles.] I'm not going to cry and wonder forever what I did wrong. You can simply say "no", I won't be offended.

Alright, I'll stay...and sleep with you...in the same bed. [Blink.] ...together.

[He rubs the back of his neck.]

You make it sound like I'm an alien.

[She slides off the arm of the couch and walks to her bedroom, leaving the door open for him.]

[He takes a deep breath and follows her in, shaking his head. John still isn't completely sure what she sees in him. The old man has seen better days. Admittedly, he makes a pretty good pillow, though.]

I'm sorry that you have to sleep in your uniform. [She opens her dresser, searching through it.] I don't have anything for you to change into.

[Then she stands straight, looking at him, holding the thin fabric of her nightgown in her hand.] Turn around.

[He sighs and turns around as asked.]

[John takes this time to face palm. He's never gotten so many mixed messages from a woman before in his entire life of 84 years.]

[She kicks off her shoes and slowly unzips her dress, then lets it fall on the ground. She steps out of it, picks it up, and gently folds it, laying it on her dresser. Her hands reach behind her to unclasp her bra (just because he's here doesn't mean she's going to stop her routine) and removes her bra, slipping it into a dresser drawer.

Then, she quickly tugs her nightgown over her body and turns around.] Alright, you can turn back around.
