I think everyone gets tired of the sky sometimes. [She moves past him and starts walking toward the door to inside.] Whether it be fake or real.

[She opens the door then stops to look over her shoulder.]

You'll walk me to my room, right?

[He strides over to her the he quickly realizes something.] I don't know where your room is...

[She furrows her eyebrows.] You've only been there once, I don't expect you to remember where it is.

It... is my room, Snake. I'm positive I can remember where it is. [She almost takes a step forward, but decides not to.]

Why would you need to remember where it is, anyway?

I am usually very good at having a photographic memory....usually. Never mind.

[He gestures with an open palm to the door.] Lead the way.

[She watches him for a moment before going through the door.]

Memory loss can happen at any age, you know. It's more common to happen if you're over fifty... but it can still happen earlier.

[She walks ahead of him by a few paces.]

Plus, this place is gigantic. Even I can't remember where certain things are and I'm a person who can do math equations in her mind easily.

[That's not helping.] Uh-huh... [He bites the inside of his cheek to keep from grumbling.]

[He follows her fairly closely.]

[She continues on, being the rambler that she is.]

It doesn't mean you're old. Everyone forgets things, young or old. A child forgets things because they're distracted easily, an adult forgets things because they have a lot of things on their mind. Your brain is constantly pushing things out and pulling things in, you're bound to forget some things until something remind you and your brain registers that thing that you were supposed to remember.

[She stops to look at him.]

I wasn't trying to point out your failure of your mental facilities, I was trying to prove to you that everyone forgets things.

[She lets out a quick sigh and walks again, this time a little more. This was not turning out to be a good ending to a good night.]

[He follows her, but he's not going to exert himself needlessly. It is true that this nexus is big and the hallways are countless, but he tries to remember the route anyway, more for his own sake than anyone's.]

[She keeps quiet, not saying anything. She doesn't understand why he kisses her and then ends up acting so cold towards her. She understand he's had a rough life, but he wouldn't have forgiven her if he didn't care about her.

Right? she adds in her mind. Right...]

[Old man is old. He can wander for hours, but usually at a much slower pace. He's able to keep up fairly well, but he can't chase her at this speed forever...]

[She doesn't even look back to see if he's keeping up with her. Luckily, for his sake, her room isn't so far.]

Here we are. [She stops in front of her door, turning to him.]

[He walks up to her from the end of the hallway. A single bead of sweat runs from his forehead into his eye.]

Yes. [John exhales is greeting quietly. He really needs to get back into some sort of shape...that isn't round.]

[She can't help but be amused. She tilts her head a little.]

Was I going too fast for you?

Hrrrnn...I'm not as young and thin as I used to be.

You could have just asked me to slow down.

[Then, she thinks for a moment and shakes her head.]

No, knowing you, you wouldn't ask anyone to slow down.

[He pulls out a handkerchief and wipes the sweat from his forehead.]

Water? Could I have a glass of water? [Someone drank too many beers then tried to keep up with a youngster.]

[She opens the door and motions him to go in first.]

Was I really that fast? I thought I was going a fairly normal pace.

Fast for this hour and for this old man, yes.

[He wanders inside enough so that she can enter, then he turns to face her.]

[She closes the door behind her.]

You know, I wouldn't have made fun of you if you asked me to slow down. I just assumed, since you always seemed pretty agile to me.

Before beer I am pretty agile.

Before. [He chuckles softly.]

[His chuckle brings a small smile to her face. At least, for now, he's not acting so distant towards her.]

Makes sense. [She walks past him, into the kitchen and grabs a glass from the cabinet. She fills it up a little more than half-way with water from the sink and walks out, handing the glass to him.]
