[Otacon is feeling the pressure of the war that has overtaken the Nexus. He feels there is only one thing that can truly be done to settle this.]

[It feels weird to call out something he created... A nuclear weapon. But if he could adjust the mechanical creation, surely there was a way to maintain peace, without needing to kill anyone.]

[Not that death even mattered here. War was pointless. Why it had been brought down to this went over Hal's head entirely.]

[No one else was trying to maintain peace. No-one. That was what saddened him the most. It seemed as though he was going to have to rise above the situation and take matters into his own hands.]

[Hal rested his hands on Dave's shoulders, staring sternly into his eyes.]

I'm not using REX as a weapon. I'm using him as a deterrent. To keep the innocent from being harmed throughout. It's not right to stand there and let people fight when there's no true purpose.

Fighting never accomplishes anything.
