We're Strange Allies With Warring Hearts
[A year.]
[Gray Fox had been in a relationship for an entire year. The thought was almost depressing. He'd been involved with Elisa for a year but how much time did he honestly spend with her? The existence of Ursula immediately cut that time in half, coupled with the long stretches of time he'd gone with barely speaking to the young woman, the end result was not the most desirable. This, however, wasn't the only thought that plagued his mind.]
[Another Naomi had found herself in the Nexus. One from a time Fox didn't want to fathom; a version of his sister that had come here after facing her own death. She appeared no older than any other Naomi he'd encountered in his time here - to think that every one of them may have been suffering in silence, to think he couldn't be there in her time to care for her as he'd done when she was a child.]
[It was almost too much for him.]
[Tonight, however, was about Elisa. He'd asked the girl to meet him here at this restaurant tonight. He had to swallow his feelings and push these thoughts to the back of his mind. He'd canceled engagements with Elisa all too frequently; their anniversary dinner was something he knew he couldn't put off. Clad in his dark green suit, he idly paces at the entrance, glancing out down the hallway now and then as he awaits her arrival.]

Well... maybe babying was a strong word...
I don't think anything else I've been doing is too bad. Sleeping with him, doing his laundry, picking up his clothes, ...well, cleaning up after him in general, reading to him, sometimes I might offer to wash his back...
Y'know. Just the usual stuff. [The alcohol has begun taking effect; allowing her to speak in a fairly relaxed manner about everything]
no subject
You bathe him?
no subject
[She gives a silent nod as he refills her glass]
It's hard for people to get their backs, you know? So I just offer to do that for him sometimes, because it's not something anyone could easily do themselves without discomfort.
It's really not as bad as you're thinking. Y'know, even I wouldn't object to someone washing my back from time to time. Null probably wouldn't make that offer though.
no subject
He'll need to work on tidying up after himself. In Big Boss' faction, cleanliness is mandatory; folding his clothes, making the bed, ensuring every aspect of his life is up to code.
no subject
I'm always forgetting about your flexibility...
[Elisa pouts a bit and looks down at her plate]
...I like doing things for him...
no subject
[He remembers when he taught Naomi to be self-sufficient. Taught her to clean, to cook, to budget... For all those month he'd leave her alone, leaving her in charge of their small house.]
[Christ. He was away from her so much in her youth. No wonder the other versions of his sister he'd encountered seemed so inclined to hide things from him, keep him at arm's length. After all those years, his best could never be good enough.]
[She must hate him.]
[He clears his throat and looks away, gesturing for their server to come take their plates. The employee does, despite Fox's still being full. Wasting food, that guilt just gets added to the pile.]
It would... Be something the two of you could do together then.
no subject
That's true I guess... It would be best if I prepared him for that now.
[He hasn't eaten a single bite of that steak... Usually Frank is better at hiding his feelings; Elisa knows this. What could be bothering him this much?]
It might be fun; doing chores with Null. I'm sure he'd appreciate having more tasks to do as well.
no subject
[He clears his throat, going for his wine again.]
I've ordered dessert already. It should be arrive momentarily.
no subject
[Elisa is kinda feeling buzzed, yeah, but that doesn't mean she's not lucid enough to sense how incredibly strained this situation has become. What point would there be in sitting here, in this awkward silence, as they eat their respective desserts?]
.....
Do you think... we could get it to go? In some kind of container or doggy-bag?
no subject
[He's a bit reluctant but it seems to be for the best. Dinner's conversation hasn't exactly been the most lively.]
no subject
[Elisa scoots back and rises out of her seat; walking off to have their doggy-bags prepared]
no subject
no subject
...You ready to go?
[Hopefully he'll feel a little better when they can just be alone together. At least, she assumes he's still going to be spending time with her tonight.]
[...Come to think of it, where are they going to go now?]
Er... my room is probably a bad idea... so...
no subject
I suppose we could go somewhere else...
no subject
...
[Elisa clears her throat]
How about your place?
no subject
I've moved from that room on the third floor. My current sleeping quarters isn't anything fancy.
...But I suppose we could.
no subject
...Do I seem like someone who needs, or is even accustomed to, 'fancy'?
[Definitely feeling a bit more loosened up now than she was initially, Elisa leans upwards and places a light kiss against Fox's cheek] All I want is more time with you tonight. Nothing else matters.
[She gives a smile; and almost grasps his hand as if going to walk with him down the hall that way, until she remembers that it's probably best that they don't. Their relationship is still being kept secret.] Well. [Gesturing to the door]
Lead the way~?
no subject
[He's a bit hesitant as he moves, leading her out of the restaurant and towards the elevator. He presses the call button and it arrives almost immediately, the pair boarding in silence. He presses the button to the basement and stands in silence, eyes focusing on the numbered panel before him. This will mark Elisa's first visit to his new quarters - that means he'll have to find somewhere new to call a home. He can't risk having Ursula locating him and assassinating him in his sleep.]
[They reach the basement and Fox motions for the girl to follow, saying not a word as he guides her down many unfinished corridors and towards a hanger. He takes a sharp left, leading to an adjoining door and he opens it, gesturing for the girl to enter.]
[It's a supply closet. or, it was. It isn't overly roomy inside, what with housing several large shelves stocked full of rations, ammunition and medical supplies, but Fox has a cot made up into the corner, spare clothing nearly folded on top of a crate and his machete leaning against the wall. He told her it wasn't anything fancy.]
no subject
[Elisa curiously steps into the room and looks around. She observes all of the rations, the weapons, and the small cot silently. But eventually the girl speaks.]
[Clearing her throat] Well it's... certainly very well-stocked.
AT LEAST IT'S NOT EMPTY.[After a pause-]Kind of makes me feel nostalgic. I've slept in similar areas... Mostly because FOX had to move around so much and kind of settle wherever they could, in between missions. Ursula and I didn't mind that so much. A lot of times, we were just grateful for not having to be cramped in a truck. [-And hell, a lot more grateful to be sleeping in an area that wasn't their cell-like room in that German facility.] ...Though I admit it could use a little decoration that doesn't double as ammunition- It's not.... um... that bad.
no subject
[He speaks as he removes his suit jacket, hanging it up on a hook on the wall for now. Hie tie soon joins it, finding himself unbuttoning his dress shirt as well. No point in letting his good dress clothes wrinkle.]
I don't have much to offer you down here... There should be some water bottles on one of these shelves, if you'd care to help yourself to one.
no subject
[Shaking her head] No, no, I'm fine. [Lifting their bag of containers] We still have dessert, right~?
[Elisa walks over toward the cot, stepping over a few things along the way, until she gets across the room and is able to sit comfortably]
What is it that you ordered for dessert anyway? I didn't see what it was as they were packing all of it.
no subject
[Fox hangs his shirt up, moving over to his crate to pull on a tank top. He opts to leave his dress slacks on for now as he fetches a spork from an empty tin of rations. The restaurant didn't have any cobbler but Fox was fairly certain she'd appreciate the upside-down cake (http://img.timeinc.net/recipes/i/recipes/ck/01/08/peach-upside-ck-226664-l.jpg).]
no subject
...Looks great... [She hasn't opened up the containers yet]
[But when he pulls the tanktop over his head, Elisa tears her vision away from him in favor of actually taking a peek of their dessert. Blinking, she adds again- (actually referring to the cake this time)]
Wow, this really does look great!
no subject
[Fox is busying himself with tidying up the area; straightening things on the shelves.]
no subject
[She takes the spork and watches him clean for a moment before speaking again with a smile] ...Come on... you really don't have to do that now. [Elisa pats the area next to her on the cot]
Sit with me? Please?
