Happy Birthday to you~

[Not only was it New Years Eve in the Nexus, but it was also a certain someone's birthday. Ocelot had spent his time preparing for the event on the rooftops for a few days now and he was finally happy with the end result.]

[Green balloons were wrapped around the railings, and there was a huge buffet table set out, along with the grill to cook the various assortment of meat (yes, that included snakes and treefrogs for any of the younger versions of Big Boss around). He had a little help from a particular individual to hunt down said species, but it was worth it in the end.]

[If snake-meat wasn't to your liking, there also happened to be a various selection of 'party' food, too. Potato chips, sausages, cupcakes, cheese, crackers, anything and everything to suit the tastes of all individuals. There was a cooler for beer, but also some fizzy cola out for any of the younger kids that decide to come by.]

[Ocelot had even decided to put up a banner congratulating the birthdate of Big Boss, and demanded people who turned up to bring presents, or food.]

[Of course, in the center of the table was a massive cake for the lucky birthday boys.]

((ooc: Any Big Boss that celebrates their birthday today, this is for you. 8D))

I'm healing fine, Sir. You needn't worry about me spending a short time on my feet. My stitches are holding fine and I just re-applied the gauze this morning.

I'm taking care of myself.

Hnh. [He gives him a quick look over; he doesn't appear to be bloody this time so he supposes that it's-] Alright...

Don't stay up too long. If you feel tired, make sure you sit in one of these chairs.

I will... But as you know, it's your birthday. It isn't often we celebrate it in the traditional sense, but...

[Fox reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small, wrapped box.]

It isn't much but I'm sure you could find use for it.

Hn?

[He takes the box, quietly. He hasn't celebrated a birthday at all, and he sure as Hell never had one with family. He's feeling a little overwhelmed.]

...

You shouldn't have.

[After a moment he bows his head to Frank then opens the box.]

[Inside the box is a windproof Zippo lighter. Nothing fancy, just a standard silver... Save for the monogram of John's initials carved into it.]

[He's more than delighted with his gift.] Thank you, Frank~! This is wonderful. Exactly what I need.

You're quite welcome, Jack. I assumed you needed something of this sort, it's good to know my instincts aren't failing me.

They're as sharp as ever. This is wonderful~!

[He wanders over to a chair and seats himself, then proceeds to sit the little box down in his lap. He pulls out a cigar and sticks it between his lips, then picks up his new lighter, flicks it open and gives it a try. It ignites on the old man's first try.]

Mmh~

[John brings the flame to the end of his cigar and lights it. As he puffs he smirks.]

It's been a while since you've had a working lighter, hasn't it?

[identity profile] old-papa-john.livejournal.com 2009-12-31 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I've had to borrow one or even use matches. This is good; this is definitely better.

[He puffs on his cigar contently.] Thank you, Frank.
