[ever since the Realignment Room, this Otacon's been hiding away in his room. He has a project he's working on, but it's obvious that's more an excuse than a reason. Idly tapping on a keyboard with one hand, the other is holding up his head while a small piece of hardware is hooked into his computer. Every once and a while, a sample voice clip comes from the little box by his elbow. But it makes him frown, trying to tweak the clip to sound more realistic. Unconsciously, he adds a bit of coding that shifts the tone and cadence to something more feminine. He shifts his hand so his fingers fall across his lips, not even noticing their state as he nibbles a little further on his index finger, reopening the wounds he had made and absently lapping at them]

I didn't even notice I was doing it. But look! I got the voicebox to work.

There's this girl- female shaped robot- and she doesn't have a human voice to speak with. I promised Nyu I'd make her one.

I'm serious, Liquid! Right now, all she can make is this mooing sound. She's really advanced. [awed]

[Don't mind Liquid, he's just having difficulty figuring this out.]

But since she's having problems talking to everyone around here, I'm making her a voicebox. I'm modifying a program I have on here already for text-to-voice, making it a little more natural and personalized to her, as well as hopefully being as close to 100% compatible with her OS. The trick's going to be installing it on her so it's nearly invisible, but making it possible for her to speak. I wonder if I can set it up so her lips move in time with what she wants to say...

Roaring is at least intimidating. No one's going to be intimidated by a mechanical cow.

They're both inhuman noises. I can imagine on a larger scale, the sounds Nyu makes can be terrifying.

Oh yes. Mooing. I'm petrified.

Well, at the same decibel and pitch as REX...

Tch. If I'm going to worry about anything on a robot, it's how much ammunition it has rather than the ridiculous sounds it's making.
