Boring? Yeah, right!
[It had been a couple of weeks since running into her room generated kid (who had since disappeared again), but the short amount of time she was in contact with her apparent son weighed heavily in her mind. It wasn't because of the fact that there was the possibility that she was going to have a kid, despite the fact that Natalia never wanted kids of her own. And it wasn't even because the father was apparently Fear, a man she somehow despised and yearned for at the same time. No, what had her in a quandary was that her own son referred to her as boring. And a nag. And a drunk.
Now, normally Natalia knew better to not look into the odder things of the nexus too much. HerAI common knowledge was too good for that. However, this was bothering her far more than it should have. With as work-obsessed as she was, was she losing sight of herself? Even if she was proud that her father put all of his faith into his line of work, he never changed who he was.
Natalia knew she was a bitch, and didn't really care if anyone else saw her that way as well. Kept people from taking advantage of her. However, one thing she was NOT, was boring! Her rebellious days of her pre-teens and teens were proof of that! But apparently, even her possible future family only referred to her as boring, naggy, and drunk. Sure, Natalia might be far more dedicated to serving her life on duty more than anything else, but no one would want to be exclusively remembered by those terms!]
[So this not-so-friendly neighborhood FROG soldier is currently venting her frustration over the matter by...surprisingly not drinking. No, instead she's shooting at bunch of pop cans, gathered from her very messy room, positioned around one of the lesser populated hallways of the nexus. If she sees you, she might give a half-ass attempt to be a little nicer to you, than she usually is with most strangers. Any friends of hers would be appreciated too. Surely not all of her friends felt the same way about her, right? If you're an enemy though? Yeah, don't expect any different from her. You are "the enemy" after all. ]
[Also, you might want to watch your step. She is shooting, after all. :|]

[And that damned revealing dress it put her in. >|]
Heh, you're in luck then. That was a nightmare. I didn't believe that it could be my son, at first. He looked more like his supposed father.
[groan] But he knew too much about me. And his skin tone was closer to mine. And...he was named after my brother.
[Another can died by her bullets.]
You haven't gotten a good look at my gun yet, have you? It's a P90 submachine gun. Even if those goddamned Snakes keep stealing my gun, there's luckily a good supply of them in the armories around here.
I'm just precision aiming because I'm more or less bored.
no subject
[He's not sure what else to say to that.]
Is that from the future? I've not heard of it. Although I don't know much about guns anyway.
[He opens a pocket and pulls out a vial, which he opens. A flick and hornets gather, which he directs at a can. They buzz over and pick it up.]
no subject
[She'd rather not expand on it anyways.]
You haven't heard of a-...right, right. 1964.
[She sighed, holding the gun out a bit.]
It's a FN P90, a Belgium-designed gun, developed back in the late eighties. But it didn't start to get widely used until the mid-nineties. It fires pretty quickly, and this thing was built to pierce through body armor.
[She watched as the hornets picked up the can.]
That's practically cheating there.
no subject
[They drop the can into one outstretched hand.]
Not really. They take more practice and upkeep than a gun, which is paid back by their usefulness inside and outside of combat. Though it helps that I like hornets and they like me, so I guess I am cheating.
[He smiles a little and sends them to put the can with the rest of Natalia's targets.]
Do they have anything like them in the future?
no subject
[After the hornets put the can back in place, and moved away, Natalia shot at it.]
Like your hornets?
Heh. To be honest, I don't think I've actually seen anyone fight with animals before. About the closest thing I can think of was that Laughing Octopus supposedly had a few back mounted homing devices that acted as bombs. But yeah...that's not anywhere near the same thing.
no subject
[They settle on his shoulders.]
It's not surprising. The gift for animals is rare enough as is...
[He sounds disappointed.
...]
What's up with Octopus and her friends, anyway? Sometimes they act strangely and I have to knock them out so I don't get set on fire.
[He knows not about Beauties.]
no subject
You mean the B&B's? They're pretty famous, from where I'm from. Apparently, it's a small unit made up of all women, who all suffered from pretty damned serious cases of PTSD. Somehow, Ocelot had a knack for finding these women, and outfitted them all in special suits. And although I tried to keep my distance away from those "Beasts", I can tell you that the technology in those suits are incredible.
[She stopped her shooting, tilting her head over to Pain.]
Why? Have you been commonly running into them? If you were being set on fire, I must assume that you ran into Raging Raven?
no subject
What's PTSD? And how is he making sure they don't run off with the suits?
[He's a few years early for the former, and not familiar with their sheer craziness for the latter.
And he looks over at Natalia.]
Yes, I met her a few days ago. It ended poorly, as you can imagine, but neither of us were permanently harmed. I'm friends with LB--Laughing Beauty--and I had to fight her out of her suit a few months ago. She's in love with Evil Fear, which will make getting rid of him much harder. Mantis I've met a few times--she was hyperventilating without her possesed dolls.

You don't know about post traumatic stress disorder? Well, I'm not much of an expert on psychology or health things, but basically it's a type of anxiety disorder that develops after experiencing some traumatic event. It's a common condition for war veterans, rape victims, or anyone else who witnessed something pretty horrific. I've heard rumors about the histories of the B&Bs, but I didn't look too far into it. I figured it was none of my business, you know?
Usually Ocelot sent someone to look after them. Like Vamp. But otherwise, I'm sure that he has some way of making the suits malfunction. I'm pretty sure the B&Bs are loaded with nanomachines too, which Ocelot has the ability to control.
Seems like you've met three of the four known members of the B&B's then. Raven's the aerial and demolition expert of the bunch, Laughing Octopus was the stealth expert, Crying Wolf was the sniping and scouting master, while Screaming Mantis controlled them all and was best known for her ability in psychological warfare.
Yeah, you're pretty lucky to have gone out alive from meeting them. Were they in their suits? I hadn't seen any of them out of their suits before coming here, but I met Raven a few weeks ago. She surprisingly didn't seem that bad of a person.
[...:|]
So you're friends with Laughing Octopus?
[Well hell, there went her idea of using her as a bargaining chip if things got out of hand again.]

[...]
[.....]
[........]
What are symptoms of this disorder?
[.................]
[He shakes his head, as if shaking off the sneaking suspicion that his occasional crazy moments have a name other than 'cowardice' or 'shellshock'.]
Ah, I see. Allowed to slaughter where they liked while they were puppeteered into the right places. I think I saw Wolf's suit running around on it's own, like REX. Although I'm not sure how well they could do with sneaking and sniping with the way they berserked at me.
LB was, but I got her into a room that removed it. Raven wasn't, but she did something that made me feel woozy. I suspect once the suits and the outside control is gone, they're less psycho killer and more lost girl.
[His parental side kicks in with them.]
I am. She was one of the first people I met here as a hall patrol, and I her first, period. But she still likes him better.
[|8 | He is not impressed by Evil Fear and his courtship of his psuedo-daughter.]
[He adds, thoughtful and a little |8 | about the thought even being a little valid:]
If we stuck them in a room with unending food and lots of rooms to entertain themselves in that they couldn't leave, they would probably stay there for a few weeks.
no subject
Hmm...I don't know anything about the B&B's outside of their suits, so I have no idea of what abilities they might have on their own.
[She frowned a bit at his explanation of his relationship to LB.]
I see.
[Normally she would comment about how two psychos, such as EF and LB deserved each other, but she wasn't in the mood to start an argument with Pain.]
The only problem is that I'm sure the two could probably find a way around the room. Or rather, once they got out, they'd inflict their rage on everyone else. Preferably, I'd like to find a way to get rid of the evil Fear for good.
no subject
[Well, doesn't that sound familiar.]
[.........]
[Give him a minute, he's been floored. Why didn't he think of looking his condition up, anyway?]
[...................]
[There we go.]
Power draining and setting people on fire would be two, I guess.
[Hmm. He folds his arms.]
Who said they didn't want to be in the room? We could call it..."honeymoon suite" or something and have them go in willingly.
[Hmmmmmmm.]
The only way I know of getting rid of people permanently here is by brain damage. We still need to figure out how to do that without having his unit mercy-kill him and bring him back--and now without LB knowing. Perhaps we could lure him to a secure room to do it? I've been to a few landscape rooms we could use, but we still need to figure out how to braindamage him enough; he's immune to a lot of poisons. Maybe by cutting off his air?
[Hornets buzz as he brainstorms.]
no subject
[She shrugged.] I suppose you could try that. It'd be nice if the solution was that simple.
I dunno, maybe the other Fear knows. Then again, with how he is, I'm not even sure if he'd want to get rid of him.
[sigh] Sometimes I wish I could be a ghost again, to get more information.
no subject
I hope it is. I haven't been in contact with the others who we allied with against the Evil Cobras for a while, so we may have difficulty getting them back together again. We'll see.
[Shrug.]
That one is more mercurial than the Fear in my world. I can't predict what he does.
[...]
I heard there was a human-to-ghost room around. We could try using that.
no subject
[She rolled her eyes, in a deadpan expression.] Yeah, tell me about it.
[Natalia brought a hand up to her helmet in thought.] Sounds intriguing. But I'm guessing that there's some sort of consequence?
no subject
[Nod nod.] Hopefully he won't run his mouth off at the wrong person.
[Another shrug.]
I don't know. I've only heard that there is one, not of any consequences. I guess we'd have to test it to find out.
no subject
[Natalia just stayed quiet for the second comment. Fear was an idiot. She was surprised that she didn't have to save his ass again.]
Hmm...if the need arises, I guess I'll have to test it out.
[She looked down at her gun.] I've already died here once. I don't think things can get much worse than that. So I can probably take whatever consequences the room has in store.
no subject
[He hasn't seen him for a while...he hopes he hasn't gotten himself in trouble.]
Right. It shouldn't be too bad. I can help with what happens while working on building our defenses.
no subject
[nod] Yeah. Alright, keep me posted then.
no subject
[He salutes.]
I'll do a perimeter sweep and check if there's rumors of anything big going on. There haven't been many new arrivals lately, so things should be quiet, but still...
no subject
Understood.
I wonder why there hasn't been as many new people anyways. Is the nexus' power perhaps weakening?
no subject
Perhaps. It may still be recovering from F.X. Nine's meddling, as well. All those people showing up at one time couldn't have been good for it.
[...]
If it's weakening, does that mean we can escape? Should we try to?
no subject
[She tilted her head.] Escape? In order for that to happen, one would need to find an exit. What I mean, is that perhaps the nexus' power is waning, as far as drawing people to it go.
As for the rest of us, I'm pretty sure we're stuck here.
[Natalia, always the optimist. :|]
no subject
[He sounds a little relieved. He doesn't want to leave :D]
Although I think a couple Snakes said they got out, came back, and were stuck here again. But that was around when Nine showed up; maybe he's a creature of Nexus-space? That would explain why no one has seen him since he unleashed the white-out.
Why would this place take us, anyway? Other than for it's own sick amusement, of course.
no subject
[Natalia's torn on it. On one hand, she could never get the glory and recognition to her father's name in this nexus. On the other hand, Raven told her that her unit failed anyways. :|]
Perhaps those Snakes ran into a room that made them think they were back home? As far as that Nine guy goes, I'm glad he's not around anymore, whatever the case was with him. A gymnast is not the job for me, dammit.
[shrug] I figured it just randomly took people, but don't you think that there's an odd amount of Snakes around this place? And I'm talking both Solid and Naked. Maybe the nexus has a fetish for them, or something. Then in sucking the Snakes to the nexus, it also drew in people close to them.
For instance, when I was brought here, I was attempting to track down Snake.
