[Otacon did frequent the bars of the Nexus just to drink casually. He had taken a liking to some of the odd beers the Nexus was supplied with. This particular bar, however, wanted its visitors to drink a little more heavy. Emmerich looked up and noticed - ]
Shots Drank : 0/3
[ - above his head. The doctor looked at all the gin, vodka, rum, sake, and all other types of hard liquers that were available. He figured this effect room was the same as the other ones he had been in. He had to fill his counter to leave because the room would be inescapable otherwise. The man grabbed a spiced rum bottle and began to pour himself his first shot in a glass.]
Here goes nothing.
((OOC: There's only one little twist - People with nanomachines, cyborgs, machines, and others can get drunk in this room even if normally they couldn't. Drink 3 or more to leave.))

[And he's sort of used to hearing long strings of technobabble by now. Hal still gets a blank stare in response, though.]
...Uh huh.
2/3
See? It makes sense! We all h-have these little...b-boxes of time, and th-that's what makes t-time in the nexus w-work.
[And he's done with the second glass.]
no subject
As long as it works.
[Hey, a pause in the technobabble. Now seems like a good time for an abrupt subject change.]
Found somewhere to stay, yet?
[Cause he has the feeling he'll be dragging your tipsy nerdy ass back there after this last drink.]
no subject
[Would you rather see him stumble through the nexus alone?]
no subject
[His hands on his glass twitch visibly at the name and he looks up sharply at Otacon as he works out just which Liquid that would be.]
...That one, huh?
no subject
[Hal wipes his eyes before starting on his third shot.]
H-He took me in, a-after that...I-It's so weird, waking up and the d-door being unlocked...
no subject
[He huffed, tapping his fingers on the table and downing his last shot in one. Could have been worse. But Snake knows how betrayal can feel.]
I won't tell you to forget him. He used you. Don't let it happen again. Move on and live. Stop worrying about the fact that he doesn't care and start focusing on the people who do.
[Could have been much worse, but he still doesn't like it. Even if he sort of got along with that Liquid the other day (though he was still a pain in the ass) he doesn't exactly trust him. Not yet.
And he isn't jealous at all...]3/3
I know, I know...I don't want to care about him. 's just, 's just hard...He was all I had for so long...Made sure Ocelot wasn't gonna torture me...Suddenly having things change like this, it's confusing...
[He grimaces and rubs his temple.]
I think...I think I can go now, right? That was three, I think...
no subject
[He stands and offers Otacon a hand up.]
...
You'll get through it. And you'll be stronger for it.
no subject
That means...That m-means a lot to me, Snake...[Have an awkward nerd hug from the tipsy Hal.] You're a good friend.
no subject
[He pats Otacon on the back, supporting him.]
You really are a lightweight, huh?
no subject
[Hal looks sheepish as they head for the door.]
Y-Yeah; I don't get out m-much an' it's no good drinkin' alone...
no subject
[As someone who was rather experienced in drinking alone, Snake really can't comment on that one.]
[They cross the threshold without difficulty, (at least, not from the room) and head out into the hall.]
So. Which way is home?
no subject
[He turns to the right and starts down the hall, wobbling only slightly.]
no subject
no subject
This is it!
[And...He knocks on the door instead of opening it. It seems like the polite thing to do, in case Liquid was home.]
I totally have my keywords memorized shut up
I believe you
Here we are...Home sweet home. Did you know that phrase came from the story of Hansel and Gretel by Hans Christian Anderson? That's the one where the two kids found the gingerbread house and started eating it. They called it a "Sweet Home", but that was before the witch came back and found them. I never liked that story...The kids shouldn't have started eating the house, I mean, it was a house. Even if it was sweet. That's just irresponsible of them. Gingerbread isn't all that good anyway, at least, not to me. I always thought it tasted kinda bitter, but "home bitter home" doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?
no subject
...no, I guess it doesn't.
[No sign of Liquid, so Snake will be peeking nosily around the room.]
Late Liquid is late
[His expression changes completely when he sees it's Hal. He had been worried about him, but damn it, he's a grown man, he can go where he likes.]
Gingerbread wouldn't make very stable building material, in the first place.
Are you drunk?
no subject
That too! Can you imagine? The witch would have to repair her house every time it rained...And the icing would get all wet and gross too.
I'm only tipsy, I think. There was a room, and you had to drink to get out of it...
[He waves his hands and gestures as he explains.]
Hi Liquid! I forgot to say that when I came in.
no subject
[At least he seems happier. Cheerfully babbling Hal is far preferable to silent devastated Hal.]
[spots Snake skulking around the room.] Brother. ...thank you for taking care of him.
woah hey, I'm paying attention, really
[He nods at Liquid and grabs Otacon by the collar of his shirt as he gestures a little too excitedly and wobbles.]
Apparently I could say they same to you.
no subject
I think...I should lie down for a little while. Just to clear my head. Just a few minutes, I promise...
no subject
That's a good idea, Hal. [takes him by the shoulder to lead him to his room.]
[to Snake] A safe place to stay is the least I owe him.
