[Otacon did frequent the bars of the Nexus just to drink casually. He had taken a liking to some of the odd beers the Nexus was supplied with. This particular bar, however, wanted its visitors to drink a little more heavy. Emmerich looked up and noticed - ]
Shots Drank : 0/3
[ - above his head. The doctor looked at all the gin, vodka, rum, sake, and all other types of hard liquers that were available. He figured this effect room was the same as the other ones he had been in. He had to fill his counter to leave because the room would be inescapable otherwise. The man grabbed a spiced rum bottle and began to pour himself his first shot in a glass.]
Here goes nothing.
((OOC: There's only one little twist - People with nanomachines, cyborgs, machines, and others can get drunk in this room even if normally they couldn't. Drink 3 or more to leave.))

[As someone who was rather experienced in drinking alone, Snake really can't comment on that one.]
[They cross the threshold without difficulty, (at least, not from the room) and head out into the hall.]
So. Which way is home?
no subject
[He turns to the right and starts down the hall, wobbling only slightly.]

This is it!
[And...He knocks on the door instead of opening it. It seems like the polite thing to do, in case Liquid was home.]
I totally have my keywords memorized shut up
I believe you
Here we are...Home sweet home. Did you know that phrase came from the story of Hansel and Gretel by Hans Christian Anderson? That's the one where the two kids found the gingerbread house and started eating it. They called it a "Sweet Home", but that was before the witch came back and found them. I never liked that story...The kids shouldn't have started eating the house, I mean, it was a house. Even if it was sweet. That's just irresponsible of them. Gingerbread isn't all that good anyway, at least, not to me. I always thought it tasted kinda bitter, but "home bitter home" doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?
no subject
...no, I guess it doesn't.
[No sign of Liquid, so Snake will be peeking nosily around the room.]
Late Liquid is late
[His expression changes completely when he sees it's Hal. He had been worried about him, but damn it, he's a grown man, he can go where he likes.]
Gingerbread wouldn't make very stable building material, in the first place.
Are you drunk?
no subject
That too! Can you imagine? The witch would have to repair her house every time it rained...And the icing would get all wet and gross too.
I'm only tipsy, I think. There was a room, and you had to drink to get out of it...
[He waves his hands and gestures as he explains.]
Hi Liquid! I forgot to say that when I came in.
no subject
[At least he seems happier. Cheerfully babbling Hal is far preferable to silent devastated Hal.]
[spots Snake skulking around the room.] Brother. ...thank you for taking care of him.
woah hey, I'm paying attention, really
[He nods at Liquid and grabs Otacon by the collar of his shirt as he gestures a little too excitedly and wobbles.]
Apparently I could say they same to you.
no subject
I think...I should lie down for a little while. Just to clear my head. Just a few minutes, I promise...
no subject
That's a good idea, Hal. [takes him by the shoulder to lead him to his room.]
[to Snake] A safe place to stay is the least I owe him.
no subject
[Snake has a feeling "a few minutes" would turn into a few hours, which was probably for the best, really. He follows a step behind as Liquid leads Hal to bed.]
Is it? Safe?
[He's asking if he can trust you.]
no subject
[quietly to Snake] I would tear out my own heart before hurting him.
no subject
Good to know.
[That's as satisfying an answer as he's going to get. Words aren't worth all that much but there's something deadly serious in Liquid's demeanor that gives him pause. Fine. If Otacon wanted to say here with him, that's his decision. At the least he trusts Otacon enough to call him if things go wrong.]
[Mission accomplished, he turns toward the door. Otacon is home safe. Good job, soldier. Dismissed.]
no subject
If you'd rather keep an eye on him yourself.
no subject
[Not that he doesn't want to keep an eye on Otacon, but staying might be a bad idea. Being around any of the Liquids still puts him on edge.]
Missed me that much, huh?
no subject
I missed your monosyllables and your pretty face.
no subject
Funny.
[Look, that's two whole syllables. He glances at the man relaxing on the couch, apparently having disregarded Snake as a threat.]
Still. Awfully hospitable of you.
no subject
I've fought enough of you enough times that it's out of my system for now. I can hold a civil conversation.
no subject
No, thanks.
[Though it might, actually. You're just weirding him out a little. He leans on a nearby wall.]
...Fine. You want to talk? Talk.
no subject
[It's almost strange to meet a Snake who regards him as a proper enemy again.]
What matters right now is Hal.
[he leans forward, clasping his hands between his knees.] I don't know how to help him, Brother. Look what I've done to him. Merely promising not to kill anyone with REX made him pathetically grateful.
no subject
Hnnngh. Hell if I know.
[He scrubs his face with his hands and looks for somewhere to sit that isn't the couch that Liquid is currently hogging.]
Otacon doesn't like to see people hurt. Even without Outer Heaven, he blamed himself for the way people used his designs. Difference is, he decided he could do something about it.
no subject
[Liquid gestures to a chair. There are a few around. If you're going to conjure an apartment from thin air, give it some amenities.]
I see. He's idiotically brave that way, isn't he.
His friend and the only hope of the world, killed by his creation and me. I'm surprised he never tried sabotage, or to simply assassinate me.
