Snowball fight, anyone? 8D

[James has been getting antsy and so, even though he's been warned that going into random rooms is dangerous, he's eager to take on any challenge today. Energetically, he flings open a random, seemingly normal door, and enters a room, temporarily blinded by a cold gust that suddenly kicks up snow.]

[Once the initial wind dies down, James finds himself in a pure white snowy field. It's nearly immaculate, fresh and untouched. There's an old log cabin off to the side and on its porch stands some kind of weaponry that James has never seen before. Very curious now, he rushes towards it, and starts to hear an interesting whirring sound...]

[... before he gets hit right in the stomach with a snowball, nearly losing his breath at the hard impact. He doesn't notice the TARGETS HIT: 0/3 counter above his head, either...]

((Welcome to the SNOWBALL FIGHT room! You must hit three people with snowballs in order to leave. :3 There are special snowball-shooting weapons stored in the log cabin if you can reach it... as for what kinds of weapons they are, I leave that up to you. :3))

[Liquid shakes his head.]

I know most people do. It doesn't matter. We can appreciate it more, I believe.

...I suppose so.

[David sighed a bit.]

[Hal had once said that those who weren't loved enough as children tended to crave parental approval it all their lives, and look for it in all the wrong places.]

[It was an built-in weakness, one that made them easy to control.]

What do you think would have happened if we'd been brought up by - as part of a real family? Even if it wasn't our blood family.

I don't know. Nor do I care to speculate. We did not, therefore it is entirely irrelevant. Such people... They would not be "us" at all.

At any rate, I care not one whit if I was not raised as part of a family.

[Liquid had been defensive and isolated for a long time for that same reason, fearing loseness and what it would represent, fearing developing a need, a weakness. Some weaknesses were worth tolerating, it would seem.]

[Snake, on the other hand, had taken a good long while to get used to this 'normal everyday human interaction' thing.]

[Dogs were easy, compared to human beings]

Hnnnn. I suppose not.

[They might have been stronger, though. In a way.]

[Liquid had practically been forced into it and had grown accustomed to it slowly.]

If someone asked me, I would tell them that there are things in the past I would change in a heartbeat. That in fact, there is little, if anything, I would not change. But if it came down to it... I believe I would prefer only to change one thing. To ensure that "that" me of the past... That I knew the truth, rather than those twisted facts.

Everything I endured in the past shaped the person I became. It made me stronger. Made me who I am now.

Dwelling so heavily on how different the past might be is a mark of an old man, old man. Try thinking younger.

[The old man snickeres.]

But I am an old man, young squirt, and age has it's privileges.

[Jupiter sneezes, then. The nice doggiecoat the room provided is doing a good job of keeping the snow off her, but it doesn't cover all her body, after all.]

Whoops. Well, I'd better be getting out of here, I suppose... That's a nice coat, though. Maybe the room'll let her keep it?

Tch. [And that is his only response to the "squirt" comment.]

It doesn't take away things it gives you unless you leave them behind. Good luck, brother.

Good luck yourself. Be good, Brother. [ The old man grins]

Say bye-bye, Jupiter. [Jupiter waves her tails and woofs.]

[The old man waves his hand and walsk away, dog by his side.]
