[There's a young Snake roaming around, seemingly looking for someone. He has a concerned, fleeting look on his face. Despite his training to mask his emotions, he can't help the frown currently furrowing his brows.]

[He's lost someone important. He can't find her anywhere. No matter where he searched, Dr. Clark was no where to be seen.]

[He picked up his pace, moving from a stride, to a jog, to a sprint. His bandanna zipped about behind him, flying around his head. He panted, trying so desperately to find his carer, but when he eventually reached the lobby from searching the hallways of the entire building, he collapsed on a bench in exhaustion, panting hard.]

[Sweat dripped down David's face as he hunched over, trying his best to prevent his frustration from surfacing, but the obvious grimace on his face remained permenantly fixed.]

[He tore his gaze away scornfully.]

Dave, please.

Why do you insist on trying to help me? You don't know anything about me.

[He went static, straightening out.]

So? Having a relationship with him doesn't mean you know how I feel.

[A slow sigh.]

I'm going to tell you what I told that other you; I don't need friends or co-workers. I especially don't need to rely on someone like you.

[He attempted to walk off.]

Dave. [sighs, pushes his glasses up] You might not, but we do. In the future, you're an invaluable member of Philanthropy. We all need you, and we all would do anything for you.

No. You need him. Solid Snake and I are two different people.

I don't have to follow in his footsteps.

[He turned, pointing at him accusingly.] And stop calling me Dave!

... no, you don't have to follow in his footsteps. And it might be better for you if you didn't become a soldier. But that doesn't change the fact that Mei Ling, Nastasha, myself... we all would do anything to help David as well as Solid Snake.

Can you bring someone back?

[He closes his eyes, hiding the turmoil fighting his heart. She was the closest thing to a parent and a friend he had.]

David...

What?

If you want to talk about it, I'm here. So's everyone else. And even though you're not going to be Solid Snake, we'll still listen.

[David felt as though his privacy had been invaded. He felt wary and uncertain, especially with how Hal had said 'everyone'. Everyone knew about him. He felt as though he was the last to know.]

Just because everyone knows who I am, that doesn't mean I know who all of you are.

I don't confide in strangers.

I don't know you either. I know who Solid Snake is. I'd like to get to know you.

... Why?

You already have Solid Snake. You don't need me, and I don't need you.

Because. For the same reason that even though Liquid's Otacon's here, he'd still help me. We're not the same people that the other remembers, but we're still someone that they want to help. Someone they want to get to know.

[David had not heard the names 'Liquid' and 'Otacon' being used. He only knew them by 'James' and 'Hal'. He gave Hal a blank stare.]

What if they don't want to get to know you?
