[There's a young Snake roaming around, seemingly looking for someone. He has a concerned, fleeting look on his face. Despite his training to mask his emotions, he can't help the frown currently furrowing his brows.]

[He's lost someone important. He can't find her anywhere. No matter where he searched, Dr. Clark was no where to be seen.]

[He picked up his pace, moving from a stride, to a jog, to a sprint. His bandanna zipped about behind him, flying around his head. He panted, trying so desperately to find his carer, but when he eventually reached the lobby from searching the hallways of the entire building, he collapsed on a bench in exhaustion, panting hard.]

[Sweat dripped down David's face as he hunched over, trying his best to prevent his frustration from surfacing, but the obvious grimace on his face remained permenantly fixed.]

Damnit...

[Although he is without a care-giver, there is one thing David should learn to get used to having -- a shadow. A shadow that slips in behind him, moving every which way he does; following him through the halls, lingering against the walls, going largely unseen by the boy and passersby.]

[A shadow named Frank Jaeger.]

[How long this shadow has been following him on his hunt for Doctor Clark is unknown; maybe he'd caught up with him a few halls back, perhaps in the last infirmary he'd checked. It could even be only now that the boy has caught up with the other young soldier -- he won't say. He'll simply linger nearby, allowing his boots to click against the floor as he approaches David from behind.]

...You're tired.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If you are fatigued, you are not training hard enough.

Why?

[All Null recognizes is that David was running, possibly with the intent of looking for something. He doesn't grasp the idea of an emotional component behind the act -- something mentally exhausting in addition to the way he exerted himself to examine every visible hallway of the Nexus.]

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[He steps closer to David, sharp eyes focused on him. There's something deeper than the physical exhaustion visible on the other soldier's exterior. It's difficult to comprehend precisely but he feels he compelled to understand why. How can someone appear so ragged? As if every part of them is drained of energy?]

...What were you looking for?

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[That answer does not suffice. He needs to know more. Why? He doesn't precisely understand that part, he just feels he wants to know. He wants to... Help.]

Tell me then. Who?

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
She has been missing for some time.

[He nods slowly, beginning to find some semblance of understanding. Although he'd only been in Doctor Clark's care for a handful of months prior to his arrival in the Nexus, if Elisa were to disappear for a length of time... He too would hunt the Nexus for her, until his feet were soaked in blood.]

[David has lost his doctor. He understands.]

I was temporarily under her care. She was my doctor prior to my arrival here.

[Silent and calm, David's new shadow follows after him. Although his outburst was a bit sudden, his words were what stuck with Null most. They don't want me anymore.]

[He understands that feeling more than he lets on.]

David. Wait.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[He comes to a stop, standing a short distance away as David presses himself against the wall. Despite his own frustrated tantrums, seeing someone else in such an emotional state is almost an entirely new experience for him. Seeing Elisa cry was one thing, it indicated what emotion she was expressing... Most of the time. Seeing David trying to keep a stoic façade, trying to ignore what he didn't know how to express...]

...I know what it means to be alone.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods. He's grown to accept the idea that his Big Boss may never arrive -- and he's realized that any day now, Elisa too could vanish permanently. Loneliness and the idea of abandonment stings... But all one can do is move on.]

I've been alone my entire life... When you seek answers and the only response is silence... It is up to you to interpret what that silence means.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Null remains silent a moment. He's used to the sound of silence; so often, that was all he would hear. With few memories of his past, he had no choice but to accept that what lay in the depths of his mind would forever be shrouded in a blanket of darkness, under cover of silence. It was something he assumed all soldiers were meant to grow accustomed to, why Elisa would leave him alone for extended periods of time -- why Big Boss could not care for him.]

[He finally speaks, the corners of his mouth turning up ever-so slightly into a faint smile.]

If I'd wanted you dead, I would have killed you then. No questions.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reaching up, Null takes hold of his mask and pulls it down, letting the other boy see that faint smile.]

You are not my enemy.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Acquaintances his own age are few and far between -- the closest one being Elisa at this time. He does recognize that Elisa wanted him to get along with people, find "friends" as she'd called them. Whether it's Nexus magic at work or something else, Null finds himself dawn to David. Unaware of what his future relationship with the other soldier is, it's a strange and almost... Pleasant feeling. To discover a potential comrade, another child soldier -- someone his own age.]

...A young girl, Sunny. She informed me of this event known as "Halloween". I am not entirely certain regarding protocol for the event... But I would like for you to accompany us.

I had not even heard of such a thing prior to my arrival here... Perhaps this could be our first Halloween then.
