Knowledge is Power

[Big Boss waits for [livejournal.com profile] so_damn_stoic in the usual place: a kitchen.]

[He hopes that Null made mental list of 'c' words for review. John's ready to start teaching him 'd' and 'e' words, assuming that he's ready.]

She said that we could do something fun, something I would find enjoyable.

I offered to teach her methods on catchings tree frogs.

[Blinks a bit]

...Incidentally, yes. I would not be taking her if she did not agree to it.

Did you want to come along on our date, Sir? I don't believe Elisa would mind.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Just blinks and tilts his head, confused by his commander's reaction.]

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
If that's the appropriate protocol then... Perhaps you and I can go hunting after I have learned the alphabet? A sort of incentive...

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Sir. I am.

[And Big Boss probably isn't aware just how happy he's making Frank. Even though it doesn't show in his tone or expression and even if he doesn't entirely grasp the idea of family, he wants to be around John.]

What is my next letter?

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Frank focuses on his commander's words, repeating them to memorize it. It is pretty confusing.]

'E'. Pronounced as 'Ee', 'eh' or 'ee'. 'Elation', 'excited'... Occasionally silent... Similar sounding to two other letters... Can denote a long vowel...

'Endurance', 'espionage'... Those are 'eh' sounds. 'Elisa', that's 'ee'...

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
[He watches Big Boss scrawl out the letters, paying attention to the strokes of each letter. He's confused when the man stops.]

...Why did you stop?

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
...Love seems complicated.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Frank isn't sure what he said that amused his commander so but he doesn't really care. He's just content that he seems to have made the man happy.]

Long vowel sounds... What about a word like 'spine'? Is that a long 'i' sound made by a silent 'e'?

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
After the letter 'C', I have come to terms with the idea that this language does not make very much sense and it logically will continue this trend as I proceed with learning the rest of the alphabet.

[identity profile] stoicism.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I have to adapt, Sir. I'm the perfect soldier.

...Do you believe I can handle three this time? Is the next letter a bit less confusing?
