EPIC SIDESTORY: LOVER'S DUEL CONTINUED

[Pain got a call from Viper fifty minutes ago telling him to show up for a fight or he'd kill Alek.]

[Forty minutes ago, Pain called his 'nephew' Ocelot for help and started a plan.]

[Twenty-five minutes ago, The Pain used Mantis to find the Sorrow and figured out the plan.]

[And now he's waiting for Sorrow to report back on the state of Viper's traps before he goes to confront him. He's going to rescue Alek, no matter what he has to do.]

[The Pain is here. The Pain is not happy.]

[The Pain is ready.]

[He opens the door back to the bedroom and gestures.]

/Think you can manage to make it to the bed?/

[He stares at the door, trying to judge what to his tired mind appears an unholy distance.]

/I do not know.../

[With a great deal of effort he manages to lift himself up from the chair, but doesn't make it more than three steps before stumbling against the wall.]

Hm. Do you need help? Orare you trying to go all the way on your own?

[He's not going to bruise Alek's pride if he doesn't have to.]

[He continues walking, using the wall as support. After a few long minutes he manages to make his way to the door. He then decides that he's proved enough and abruptly leans against Pain.]

/Excellent. You need some rest now; I think you'll have full range of movement back when you wake up./

[He puts an arm around Alek and helps him to the bed.]

[His eyes close the instant his head hits the pillow and he's asleep within seconds.]

[Pain sits next to him for a few minutes and pets his hair, smiling. He hums a song softly as he brushes wet bangs out of Alek's eyes.]

...Je t'aime. Sleep well.

[After which he goes to put on his clothing and go exploring. He has some evil Cobras to stop, after all.]
