EPIC SIDESTORY: LOVER'S DUEL CONTINUED

[Pain got a call from Viper fifty minutes ago telling him to show up for a fight or he'd kill Alek.]

[Forty minutes ago, Pain called his 'nephew' Ocelot for help and started a plan.]

[Twenty-five minutes ago, The Pain used Mantis to find the Sorrow and figured out the plan.]

[And now he's waiting for Sorrow to report back on the state of Viper's traps before he goes to confront him. He's going to rescue Alek, no matter what he has to do.]

[The Pain is here. The Pain is not happy.]

[The Pain is ready.]

[Good.

The next two wires finished, he starts to relax, but as he wipes a bit of sweat from his forehead he notices a final wire he'd overlooked before, strung to an entire second cluster of bombs. Maybe nonlethal, but he can't risk setting them off.

He moves over to it and crouches down. He presses X, but nothing happens.

...

This is a cutscene, isn't it.]

[He starts in panic when he hears the bombs above him exploding and then... he fells funny all of a sudden. Rather quickly he realizes that he can't move at all, and he's rather unhappy to find himself in a new slumped over position with all his weight supported by his shoulders.]

...!

[SHIT SHIT SHIT THIS IS WHY HE'S BETTER AT SETTING EXPLOSIVES THAN DISARMING THEM.

He wasn't at the center of the blast, so Ocelot feels his body turn sluggish and weak, but he stays upright. He pulls himself together and reaches the target, getting his arms under Alek's chest and hauling him bodily off the hook. Judging by the limpness of the body-- no, a check for a pulse at his neck assures Ocelot it was just more of the same paralysis powder.

Saving the restraints for when they're out of the room, Ocelot hooks his arms under Alek's shoulders and proceeds with dragging the body toward a wall so they can slip out. It's in the process of dragging his body across the floor that Ocelot notices the streaks of blood for the first time.]

...

[He puts it out of his mind and continues carrying the kid out.]

[Although his shoulders are extremely sore, he really has no choice but to allow this mystery person to drag him around.]

[He tries to focus his mind on happier thoughts, such as Sunny being safe and Pain (hopefully) beating up Viper.]
