Cry Wolf: Day Two

[That familiar large TV flicks on to reveal a long table filled to the brim with fancy dishes, silverware, decorations, but not a single person in sight. Well, except for Ivan. He's currently gorging himself on some kind of meat and rice dish. After a few seconds of him eating, the Soviet swallows and wipes his face with an embroidered napkin, smiling up at the camera.]

Welcome back to day two~ I was just enjoying some lamb. Oh! Speaking of lambs...

[His tone turns dark, but amused as he leans his elbows on the table.] One of you has been picked off by the wolves, I think he goes by...Big Boss?

[Chuckles, placing his cheek in his palm.] And as for the young boy, Chico, well...he's been voted off. How cruel...

[Taking a gulp of wine.] You have 27 hours. Why the extra three? Who cares. I'll come back around halfway through the day to give you your clue.

[Ivan, out!]
[Poll #1784285]

((ooc: Due to LJ's 3-hour maintenance on the 5th, the post will have 27 hours. It'll end at 9:00 PM EST.
Or not, because I suck at time conversions and maintenance starts at 6:30 pm EST. But you guys can have the extra 30-minutes anyway~))

((CLUE IS UP! And it's been SOLVED!))

[Volgin was not going to return it so easily, even in the more interesting company of another potential sadist with a like mind. Back in the day, his friendships were... purposeful.

He could use more on his side, these days. ]

Not a thing I hear often.

[Liquid could have a usual smirk, though.]

So, did you kill him?

[The Soviet figured it might have been a reasonable question in the likes of the Nexus, given what happened to him. The dead walked. And breathed. And fucked.]

Whether you mean back in the real world or just now, the answer is sadly no either way. Someone got to him first. Back home, it was a soldier who deserved the kill.

[his eyes narrow] I intend to find out who stole it this time.

This "real world" then. Death loses its ... Hn, weight when you have your victims coming back and running around like scared rabbits.

To be fair: It's fun to watch.

[He reached for his cigar box, in usual fashion.]

If you find him, skin him. Tell me how long he lasts.

[He grinned with teeth.]

I never had the patience for skinning.

[he laughs] It must be. Terrified weaklings grow old quickly, however. They've got nothing to get the blood pumping like a real challenge.

[His returning smile is genuine.] With pleasure. I look forward to the look on his face when he's begging the inferior copy for his life. [He's never understood how Snake got no joy from killing the man. What Snake doesn't know won't hurt him....it will, however, hurt Big Boss very much.]

[The younger one who called him son doesn't count as a Big Boss.]

The sooner this game is finished, the sooner the hunt can begin.

[Volgin was running low on cigars now (two left! Two!). Frustration with being kept in a box and waiting to be slaughtered like patient cattle with his lover seduced by the funding of another, well... had him smoking almost constantly, and he literally had burned through his supply.

A day!

His indulged vice aside, he would describe this Liquid Snake as one of his better company, so far.

Nevermind that the last actual challenge he had cost him his life.]

Good boy.

[A puff of smoke.]

I had someone tell me once: If he's begging to live, you're not breaking him enough.

He was a good man. Knew his trade well.

[Though Liquid inwardly bristles at being spoken to like an obedient dog, he hides his irritation.]

Soon he is distracted. His eyes are far away. He's seeing blood.] He'll beg to die soon enough. Torture is more Ocelot's forte, but for Father I'll make an exception.

That man must have been a knowledgeable teacher.

I took what he gave me and improved on it.

[A beat.]

Then I killed him. Suspicions of treason.

[Or he simply told them too much, and Volgin needed an untrained hand keeping tabs on him instead, but who had to know that?

But, Volgin paused.]

Ocelot, you say?

[identity profile] leashedliquid.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Liquid don't judge.] War is no place for sentiment. Some men need killing.

Yes, Ocelot. I had the misfortune of having him for an underling once. A slippery and treacherous man - which, ironically enough, makes him the surest ally in this game.

Little love lost.

[Yet, Volgin paused again, narrowing his eye, a casualty from an Ocelot. Ocelot, every thread of that damn brat, was going to be the bane of the giant's existence, he knew enough.]

I'm not surprised.

[Volgin glanced about.]

... He's only an ally as long as it serves him. A clever wolf if I ever saw one, herding his sheep single file.

I've been watching him.
