[Otacon did frequent the bars of the Nexus just to drink casually. He had taken a liking to some of the odd beers the Nexus was supplied with. This particular bar, however, wanted its visitors to drink a little more heavy. Emmerich looked up and noticed - ]
Shots Drank : 0/3
[ - above his head. The doctor looked at all the gin, vodka, rum, sake, and all other types of hard liquers that were available. He figured this effect room was the same as the other ones he had been in. He had to fill his counter to leave because the room would be inescapable otherwise. The man grabbed a spiced rum bottle and began to pour himself his first shot in a glass.]
Here goes nothing.
((OOC: There's only one little twist - People with nanomachines, cyborgs, machines, and others can get drunk in this room even if normally they couldn't. Drink 3 or more to leave.))

Drinking just to drink, huh?

Is there any other reason?
[At this point, Matt just thought he was that damn drunk when he thought he saw a counter.]

[He laughed lightly then decided to shot one of his two glasses. Hal scrunched his face until his senses went back to normal after a few seconds. And then he didn't know what to say.]

[He's mumbling, but at least audibly. He's too drunk to read the other man's face, let alone try and figure out what he's like, much to his dismay.

Yeah. I'm not into drinking too much myself.
[He let out a small sigh.]

[Normally, his explanation would be very well constructed and eloquent, but well, he's had a few. It's apparent that this will make no sense from the second he opens his mouth.]
Addicted people actually need alcohol in one way or another. They rely on it's effects to go from day to day, but in the end, their lives are consumed by it. It's a damn tragic thing, and I can't tell you how many times I've went to a bar to see one of my men burying themselves in a drink. Then, they'd stumble in the next day being all "hnghgh" and I'd be like "This is your JOB. Why would you drink that much when you knew that you needed to do it." That man was destined to be a loser. I'll tell you, don't EVER try to substitute alcohol for counciling, it'll just end in tragedy.
[The first two sentences were relevant, then he just went off topic. Apparently, the tolerance for booze he thought he had went away quite some time after his wife told him he was to stay away from any sort of alcohol whatsoever.]

You have a point. Addiction is often just a cover up for another problem. When people's lives aren't in balance, they'll use alcohol or any other addiction to try to fill that void in their lives. But you become dependent upon your obsession and you soon are at a point where you need more and more of it to have the same satisfaction as before. And then...
[Hal ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.]
I think I need another one.
[He poured himself some more sake then just stared at the cup. Hal sipped some.]
Re: 3/3
[He may be drunk off his ass, but he's still been able to observe a few things. When Hal took another drink, he attempted to warn him.]
Be careful.
[He said as he held his head. He was finally starting to sober up, and it wasn't pretty.]
You're drinking too quickly. Your body won't feel the effects of what you just drank for another half hour. It already won't be pretty, so give it some time.
[Something he has clearly relearned the hard way.]

[He looked over at the other man then back down at his cup. Hal remembered he had been in other bars that didn't trap you in them so he could always drink sake later. The man pushed the cup and the bottle away then poured himself some water in a new glass. Emmerich drank some.]
I think I've had enough.
We're both going to be pretty hungover tomorrow, aren't we?
[The doctor gave him a grin.]

You may have a slight hangover tomorrow, but I'll be a mess in...
[He looks up at a clock.] Two hours..

[Hal finished up the rest of his water.]
