[The knock on the door of the one armed Liquid's house probably was unexpected.

That was alright. Liquid could wait. And when the door finally opened, there would be an interesting sight. A Liquid, no longer eyepatched, stood there before the door. His coat was fastened tightly up to his neck and there was an awkward expression on his face. Held gently in his hands, cradled against himself, was a pale gray kitten with big green eyes. It mewed impatiently squirming as if it sensed the awkwardness of the man holding it.]

I never noticed the cold, personally. It's why Ocelot said that, yesterday - that we don't get cold. He's never seen me react to it.

I had noticed, but it never... bothered me, I suppose is the right phrase. It's different now, of course.

Don't go to the Alaska room, then. Or - if it's still there- that one room on the ninth floor that locked people in the snow for twenty-four hours.

[Liquid looked down at his lap, where the kitten was playing with his fingers and currently gnawing slightly on one callused digit] Hm.

It's a fair price to pay, I suppose. A chance for happiness, and all we have to do is endure a little suffering every so often.

... Brother, I- [Oh, this was difficult] Mantis- you are aware of what happened when I had turned into a girl before, yes?

Not particularly. What happened? [He looked over at the other Liquid, his expression curious.]

I was complete. Everything I had lost was back.

...there may be a room that can restore it.

Perhaps. It was... nice to have. Brother, somehow it also restored not just my sexual hormones but also my mental desire to have it. And- for those three days, I was alone in this room.

I had been told that due to my shifted thought patterns solely due to a body change, I would be alone in the room. I hadn't thought past that. I enjoyed being whole... but it came at a price that Mantis didn't wish to be near me.

[There was a short bray of bitter laughter at that] It's strange how him being an asshole is familiar and comforting.

Yes. [His hand paused on the kitten, looking down at it] Hm. I didn't expect such a simple answer for that question. Yes, I do.

I have to admit, it's surprising but good to hear.

It seems that Mantis has a core that doesn't completely hate everyone. It's rather refreshing.

It's strange, as well. I hadn't thought about relationships past simply taking care of the physical urge. Without that on both sides, I find myself a bit... possessive of him.

Given who it is, I have to wonder when the true psychotic side of him comes back and how that will effect our relationship.
