Anybody get the Number off that Freight Train?
[Suddenly, having spent the past several days in that same Storage Closet in Groznyj Grad, (it was hard to tell being that he was indoors, inside of a box, with no windows, so it was kinda hard to tell the passing of time) John Doe, better known as Big Boss and a host of other code names, suddenly was back in the Nexus it seemed. Growling, not the most comfortable landing he'd ever done but not at all hurt, John got to his feet, brushing himself off. Sighing, he ran a hand through his hair, looking around. He saw a rather large blood stain on the floor as well as bullet shells, broken pots and pieces of a door scattered about the hall not 10 feet away from where he was originally - well, obviously, whatever decided he needed to be here at the Nexus has a sick sense of humor. That, obviously, was the spot where that girl had sent him to make his maker again.]
God damn my luck...
[(ooc:so yes, this Big Boss is back; you're welcome to stop by and say hello as he settles in or bring him a house warming cake or... whatever...)]
God damn my luck...
[And so, Naked Snake set about to find himself an apartment again, sore and tired. However, this time, he made his way a couple floors lower, away from the crazy psychic girl. He decided that it'd be a good idea to not neighbors with a vendetta. Finally finding a nice place, plenty of room for two, for whenever he managed to find Ocelot again, he made himself at home, leaving the door open as he went about checking the place out, taking off his belt with all his gear and setting it on the couch.]
Finally... Mission Accomplished I guess...
[(ooc:so yes, this Big Boss is back; you're welcome to stop by and say hello as he settles in or bring him a house warming cake or... whatever...)]

[Big Boss smiled at the Ocelot's comment, chuckling softly.]
Hm. You don't know how right you are...
[Curious, Big Boss started poking around the cabinets of the apartment he'd just chosen as his own, he hoped to find something alcoholic. After the rough... whatever he'd just had, and getting his ass beat by a tiny little girl, he needed a stiff drink.]
Oh fuck yes...
[John managed to find a rather nice bottle of whiskey in one of the cabinets. Pulling it down, he got some glasses and filled them with ice from the freezer. Filling them both, Naked Snake helped himself to one of the glasses. He knew his Ocelot was more of a Vodka drinker, but he wasn't going to be a bad host.]

probably not the only thing that's bigger] Don't tell me you're losing your touch, John.[Ocelot doesn't mind whiskey. Vodka's good but he won't complain if it's sharing a drink with John. He picks up the glass with a smirk but doesn't drink yet.]
no subject
[He took a long so sip of his own glass of whiskey, a soft sigh leaving him as he held the glass in his hand, watching the liquid shift around the ice for a moment.]
Over thinking can kick your ass just as fast as any blow can.
[Not wanting to dwell on that thought, he simply took another swig of whiskey. Usually he wasn't much of a drinker, but right now he felt like he might finish the bottle sitting not too far away from him.]
no subject
Or it can get you out of an ass kicking. [Adam smirks, sipping a bit of his drink. Not that it's too strong for him but he doesn't trust this place to treat him kindly while he's drunk.] If you know how to use it to your advantage.

[Shrugging Big Boss picked up his glass again, finishing the last of the alcohol before pouring himself another glass. The over-thinking had lead to hesitation and tons of costly mistakes - not smart at all.]
Eh, doesn't matter now.
[A long sigh left John, moving to sit on the nearby couch in the living room. He was still able to see Ocelot in the kitchen thanks to the apartment's open floor plan.]
At least I'm out of that godforsaken storage room.
no subject
[He follows because there's no reason for him not to trust John. He sits on the opposite side of the couch, drinking again.] It couldn't have been that bad. Unless you didn't have any food in there. Or are you getting soft on me?
no subject
Hell no. It's nothing like that. It's... a bit more complicated than that.
[Crossing his legs, Naked Snake set his glass down on the nearby end table, his right hand moving to scratch his jaw as he thought. Where to start was the question.]
You don't happen to remember the storage room on the first floor of the East Wing Weapons Lab in Groznyj Grad do you?
no subject
[At the question he raises an eyebrow.]It was more Raikov's territory than mine but I went in there a couple of times. Why?

[Silently, the femme fetale followed Jack back to his apartment. She hadn't a gift prepared for him other than perhaps herself.]
[A declaring rattle on the door gave her presence away.]
You've seen better days.
no subject
True, but I've seen much worse.
[His attention hesitantly returned to the apartment's kitchen, digging around to see if there was anything decent to eat. He wasn't really in the mood to really make anything so the secret agent eventually settled on a can of beef stew. Locating a can opener, he went about opening it. Once it was, he grabbed a fork and proceeded to start eating there at the kitchen counter. His eyes, of course, eventually drifted back up to see a certain Chinese agent he'd originally met during Operation: Snake Eater, actually looking her in the eyes this time.]
Hope you're fairing better, EVA.
no subject
As have I.
[Taking that gaze as an invitation to enter, the spy strolls into the room at a leisurely pace and wanders into the kitchen. Her fingers curl around a chair, but she opts against seating herself for the time being.]
I can't complain. It's been quiet around here but I do what I can to make my day that much more interesting.
[A smile teases its way onto her glossed lips.]
Seeing you here is a diversion of my usual routine but I always manage to make time for a Snake.
no subject
You've never been one to like quiet, EVA. Glad to hear I can help break of the monotony.
[Reaching back in one of the cabinets, he raised both eyebrows, pulling out a bottle of red wine. Not exactly what he was looking for but he set it on the counter anyway as well as a couple of wine glasses. This, to him, was pretty funny.]
Care for some, or do you plan to drug it this time?
[The one-eyed man was only half joking as he spoke, though the invitation was by no means a fake. Either way, Big Boss was still letting the woman know that he didn't trust her as far as he could throw her.]
no subject
[EVA knew it would take time before gaining Snake's trust again. She was fully aware of what she was capable of in the future, at least when regarding the other man and the completion of their mission, but the spy had yet to live through that. She had made a promise to another Big Boss here not to betray him; especially considering the information she had learned of becoming a surrogate mother to his children.]
I'm afraid I don't follow.
[She finally seats herself at the table, a leg crossing over the other as she quietly observes the man.]
I haven't completed my mission yet. I've barely even had the opportunity to seduce you. Whatever happened in your world has yet to happen to me.
As I said to another Jack, I don't intend to betray you.
no subject
[His hands gripped the counter for a moment, gritting his teeth, before John picked up the bottle of while and took off the top, pouring each of them a glass. If Big Boss didn't know her name, John would damn well rather EVA not call him by his, especially since the only one that ever called him 'Jack' was the Boss. It was interesting, to Big Boss at least, to think that EVA hadn't done any of the things that he knew of her. He had loved her once, during Snake Eater, when he was far too naïve and blinded by the moment to read between the lines and see the truth that had been right in front of him. However, that felt like a million years ago, and having lived his life and it having been reset, looking her in he face again, John honestly wasn't sure what to make of this. However, even without what she did a the end of her mission, there has still been the very tangled web of lies she had woven to gain his trust in the first place.]
Hn... Those are some pretty words from a pretty agent.
[Picking up one of the wine glasses, Big Boss set it on the table next to her. Turning his back other for a moment, he grabbed the can of soup and his own glass before sitting down at the kitchen table with EVA.]
Here's to them being more than just pretty word.
[He raised his wine glass, halfheartedly toasting before taking a sip of wine. However, his attention was quickly returned to the beef stew in his hand.]

[EVA recalls certain versions of Snake being particularly sensitive about that name. Jack was a variation of John regardless, and it seemed more appropriate than addressing him by his true name. That was reserved for his older self.]
[For the spy, her feelings for the man were true. She never lied about that. She only lied about where her true loyalties lie, but as she had stated- she was willing to put that aside while living in this place. The Legacy had no meaning here. Life was meant to be lived in this place, and death did not exist for longer than three days, as this Big Boss was no doubt aware.]
I know you don't trust me, Snake. I don't know if you will ever trust me again, but I've no reason to lie to you in this place. I have nothing to lose, nothing to gain by directing you down a path of lies.
[She wraps her fingers around her glass, her eyes fixed on the soldier. She purses her lips in order to sip her own wine, savoring the taste.]
no subject
Hn.
[He listened to what EVA said, picking up his own wine glass to take a slow drink.]
I know. Why do you think I haven't thrown you out yet? The Philosophers, their money, and their games mean nothing here.
[He finished off the last of the soup, tossing he fork into the sink before throwing away the empty can, not bothering to get up from where he sat. Resting back in his chair, he slowly began to drink the wine, enjoying the flavor on his tongue. A soft, content sigh leaving him as he relaxed a bit in the chair]
I have to say, after so many years of bullshit, it's a bit weird to not be trapped by all these games and lies. It's still taking some getting used to.

...Hello John.

You have some where to be or just passing through?
[He balanced his attention between the blond in his door and his search for something to eat.]

[He invites himself in, striding into the room until he's close enough to see what Big Boss is doing.]
I haven't run into your kind in a long time.

[Big Boss was of course perfectly fine with having the company of an Ocelot; he preferred it really. Giving up on the cabinets for the moment John decided to peek in the fridge, smiling as he found some pre-made sandwiches already in there. Pulling one out and unwrapping it, he took a bite - Turkey BLT... not too bad. He'd add a bit of mustard or something, but Naked Snake was far too focused on eating to add anything further to the sandwich.]
no subject
Don't mind if I do.
[Ocelot unwraps his and takes a bite as well.]
Mm. Tastier than most of the stuff you eat...
no subject
Well, I'm sick of snake and mushrooms; I think I'll stick to this for a while.
