on the battlefield, finding an outlet is a pain
[Pierre's been.... around. Somewhere. Where you can't see. His mun certainly didn't forget about him, no. Lurking, watching, et cetera.
But now he's in pretty plain sight, sulking against a wall of the hallway, his GOL rifle held over his chest in a obvious guard position. What's he's guarding though is a little surprising. Anyone who gets close will see his Nintendo DS pulled into the outlet he's standing over, charging. Apparently it ran out.
He just stands there. And pouts. And waits.
Not the stealthiest sniper in the Nexus, obviously.]
/Why they didn't add more save points to Chrono Trigger, I don't know. I mean, really, do they not get the idea of portable gaming? Imbeciles./

Good stuff, huh? Better keep an eye out for the hall patrol leader though, he might not like that.

[rubs his forehead in slight frustration.]
So why bother trotting about on patrol with that overkill-of-a-weapon if you're going to sit there and play like that?
[coffee sip.]

[A fixed smile arose. "With that attitude, I'd swear he works for the 'Bureau."]
But it's nice to know you're not with those hall patrol guys. My apologies. Hopefully the 'mark' won't catch you playing Pac-Man, Galaga, or Penguin Adventure...
[Dalton chuckled at the last title, reminded of the quirky Asian guy with glasses who showed him it months ago; as he walked toward the elevator.]

... Does all your gaming knowledge come from over twenty years ago? No one plays those anymore.

[coffee sip]
If you don't mind me asking, if you're not with the hall patrol, which outfit are you with? Or is this a "freelance" thing?

emoingsulking in her room long enough to get some 'fresh air'. Spotting Pierre leaning against a wall, she approaches slowly.] You again.[Remembering that she greeted him on his first day] How has your Nexus-living been so far?

Well. I got stuck in a Hall of Mirrors for what felt like over a month. Magnificent first impression this place makes.

[Quirking a brow] Strange.
I thought that the Hall of Mirrors only chooses to trap vain people within it's corridors.

You are obviously above such things, I see. What is a regal person lacking in such vanities doing on this fine evening?
no subject
Just wanted to get out of my room.

[Fortune looks to his DS quizzically] ...You want me to play games with you?

[sighs, defeated] Was a joke. A poor one, obviously.

[She tiredly runs a hand through her hair. This is just sad. Social interaction has never felt so foreign as it does now.] I'm sorry; I haven't been much of a people-person lately.
[But Helena would much rather shift focus away from herself right now.] And what about you? You look like you're standing guard or something. [She wonders if he's another Hall-Patrol member]

I am, sort of. It took hours to find the right kind of outlet for my charger. Can't have anyone poaching it.

[She takes a step closer, putting her back against the same wall. Fortune sinks down to the floor and sits next to him, resting her head in a hand.] No outlets in your room, or no room in general?
no subject
[He tugs the plug out to show her.] I bought this in France while on a job a few years back. You ever stick an Type F plug into a Type A outlet? Not pretty. [waves a hand at the Nexus in general] Almost every outlet here is Type A or B.

[It's kind of nice, she supposes, to simply talk to someone again. Neither enemy nor friend; Just a person willing to indulge in mindless chatter. She can't face her friends again- Not after the way she acted towards them during the war. Taking her own sorrow and frustrations out on them and driving them away... pathetic.]
[She just needs some time to get her thoughts in order; Away from enemy and friend alike... "soul-searching"? Perhaps something along those lines. But she wont find what she's looking for by locking herself in her room and hoping for a death that will never come.]
Are your video games really that important to you? -I'm not judging or anything, but if this is just something to pass the time, there are several other sources of entertainment within the building.

Well, they're perfectly suited for my job. They are portable, strengthen reflexes, allow me to release stress when I need to, and do not take up much energy that would be best conserved.
And I like colorful things. Nintendo provides.
/If this tag were any later, it would be pregnant
...I suppose it's a bit like VR training in that way.
["Video games". Many war veterans have referred to VR as such before. It was Helena's job to take up the role of her husband; Teaching overly-enthusiastic VR troopers how to deal with the actual 'reality' of combat.]
