Danger zone
[A cat-eared Liquid is walking through the halls, tail lashing. There is a half-empty bottle of bourbon in one hand and something else in the other.]
[He is shouting at no one.] Yes, I know he was an imbecile! We fought every time we were in the same room! We spent full days insulting and punching one another! He drove me mad!
[He takes a swig from the bottle, then leans against the wall.]
God, I miss him.
[He hangs his head as he laments]
We were just beginning to tolerate one another now and then. Why did the idiot have to disappear? There were times when he...I could almost say he...wasn't so bad.
[His face crumples into an expression of unbearable sadness.]
We never even finished watching his ridiculous film.
[The object he holds is a video of Top Gun.]
((Drunk, kitty-ified Liquid misses
xmas_is_here. Laugh, commiserate, steal his bourbon.))

Ah. Right.
[He leans out of Snake's arms to take care of the codes and the thumbprint scan. The door opens into the cozy, comfortable apartment]
no subject
You set up the movie while I get snacks.
no subject
[He wonders if Hal is asleep in his room, or if he'll join them]
[Then he wonders if Hal is hurt by his roving affections.]
[It's a sobering thought, and he does not want to be sober. He takes a swig from the bottle before setting it on the coffee table and getting up to put the video in the machine.]
[soon, there is terrible 80s music]
no subject
Hey Liquid, he followed me home; can we keep him?
[Hal laughs and moves to sit next to Liquid, setting the cups on the nearby coffee table.]
You should have told me Snake was coming over. Waitasec, was that bottle full when you started? Liquid, you know that's not good for you.
no subject
I happened to run into him. We have to watch this terrible film. It's important.
[As soon as Hal is seated beside him, Liquid lays down with his head in his lap] A drink now and then won't kill me. Besides, that's hardly anything.
no subject
[And nagging.]
That's hardly a drink. Don't you know what alcohol can do to a person when you binge like that? Your liver-
[As Hal natters on through the opening credits, Solid lifts Liquid's legs to sit. After a moment, he shoves some popcorn into Hal's mouth.]
Shh. The movie's starting.

[That soft sound coming from his throat may not be entirely unpurrlike.]
[He arranges the bottom half of his body over Snake. Laps, yes. Laps are lovely.]
This part is important. There are planes.
no subject
[Hal pets Liquid until he remembers his ramen. Sorry Liquid; he'll continue once he's done eating.]
no subject
[His ear flicks in annoyance. He didn't say you could stop. Oh well, your lap is still comfortable.]
[In fact, in the flickering dark between two men he adores, Liquid feels...safe. As though he belongs.]
no subject
[Things happen, the fighter pilots take off, 80s music plays, Hal slurps his noodles.]
[David leans back, relaxing against the couch.]
no subject
[Liquid would not know that the word for this feeling is home.]
no subject
[As long as the feeling is there, that's enough.]
[Hal chimes in] You've got to admit the dialogue could use some work, Snake.
no subject
[Onscreen a woman says, "Take me to bed or lose me forever." And the reply is, "Show me the way home, honey."]
[Liquid can't help it.]
He...that's exactly the sort of thing he would have said. With absolute conviction.
[He starts giggling and can't stop.]
no subject
You two don't know good lines when you hear them.
[He pokes Liquid's feet as if in warning.]
no subject
Almost...almost as bad...as the need....for speed!
no subject
Real funny, coming from Mr. "I'm your shadow".
no subject
[He sits up just enough to throw his arms around Snake's neck and haul him down for a kiss]
no subject
Stupid. You assume I would want to.
[Hal sets aside the empty cup, looking a bit red in the face as the twin Snakes make out in his lap.]
no subject
[He purrs into the kiss, then breaks away so he can wind his arms around Hal's neck.]
[and the cute nerd will find himself thoroughly kissed]
no subject
[David slowly rubs circles against Liquid's naked belly, simply happy for the human contact.]
no subject
[Liquid pays no attention to the cheesy music. He is occupied with Hal's mouth and Snake's hands]
[and maybe purring.]
no subject
[Hal is quite happy to pay attention to the new housecat, though.]
Are your ears really that sensitive?
no subject
They feel a bit strange. But when you touch them like that...
no subject
[A half hour later, the engineer is dozing lightly.]
no subject
[It's so good to lie here, safe and wanted]
[he speaks softly, so as not to wake Hal]
