Astral Projection event (day 8)

[Those who had been "affected" finally detect a change. It's a sensation of being pulled. Wherever they are, no matter how far from it, they suddenly find themselves forcefully yanked back into their bodies, and the connection is reestablished at long last. All the people that fell a week ago are waking up...]

((Event end! The "affected" are now back in their bodies. ...But if something happened to the body during the week, they have to deal with it. There's no magic healing.))

I wish I knew. The best I can say is a theory your alternate posed. Neither Ocelot nor the ghosts the normally haunt these halls could see me, and so the forced astral projection theory sounds... a bit plausable now after the events I've witnessed with my own alternate.

[Mantis relaxes a little, slumping on Liquid.]

Sounds reasonable. What events are you talking about?

[Even as he asks his mind brushes over Blondie's, almost reveling in the familiar patterns.]

[A familiar touch. Liquid opened his mind a bit, letting him in.]

My alternate is close to a young Ocelot. I'm not sure if you're aware, but he has the capability to be a medium. He's seen ghosts before. He couldn't see my alternate, nor could an older version of him see us. There's a version of myself from after Shadow Moses, a ghost, that haunts the elder. He couldn't see us either.

[Liquid cradled Mantis's chin, manoevering it as if to kiss him. But he simply held his chin as such, his lips starting to fall into a smile.]

I am.

[Scarred lips twist into a smirk behind the mask. His height made them look rather silly like this, but he didn't mind.]

I'm glad.

[Liquid smiled as well. It was rather silly, making Mantis duck his head ever so slightly like this. But it was the closest to a kiss they would get unless Mantis felt he could remove his mask.]

I want you. [No sexual heat, just need] I want you in me, around me... reminding me I'm alive. Your mind, touch- all of it.

[If he hadn't been in Liquid's head and hadn't felt the man's context, Mantis would have hit him.]

[Slowly, his mind sinks deeper into Liquid's, covering him almost protectively.]

[Connected. It was what he needed. Liquid moved to lift Mantis's mask slightly, just enough to kiss him and have that physical connection.]

[Hesitant. Clumsy. Such words are not normally used to describe the psychic, but now they fit him as he kisses Liquid.]

[Liquid purposely didn't think about how to make the kisses better. He wanted Mantis's actions, untainted by his memories.]

[He deepens the kiss inexpertly, moving closer and tilting his head awkwardly because of the gasmask. Gloved hands slowly move over Liquid's body, stroking his sides and back with muted affection.]

[I needed this, Mantis. He never said thank you, not even mentally, but the gratitude came through.]

[Slowly, Liquid reached up to replace the mask over his lips] We'll eventually need to clean so we don't step on the mines when we finally have to leave.

[There's a warmth in his emotions that might signal that Mantis may have needed this too. Whatever this was.]

Hmm.

[He glances dispassionately over the remains of his temper tantrum. Mantis doesn't like to clean up very much.]

Can't we leave it?

No. We're going to have to clean it up anyway, even if you float us over it.

[He grumbles, and a few paths leading to the kitchen, bathroom, and door form in the mess. A few extra things scoot under the bed.]

[Mantis shrugs and steps back to sit on the bed to watch Liquid clean up. If he's the one who has a problem with a little disorder, then he should clean it up.]

[He wasn't the one who destroyed the room in a fit, but Liquid was ready to show him how it was done. And it was quickly cleaned to perfection.]
