[Hmm, this psychic seems to be a much more powerful telepath than the mind flayer is. Oh well, it's still an inferior human without the innate psychic resistance of an illithid. Probably a good idea to prepare for the worst, just in case. Not that the mind flayer expects to lose to a human.]
